Archer Hotel Austin

We’ve been back from our Austin vacation for almost 2 weeks now and I am still dreaming of the amazing Archer Hotel. This hip and modern boutique hotel pays attention to the details. A sprawling entry way, floor to ceiling fireplace, and massive chandelier greet you upon entering. The decor is the perfect mix of modern and Western. Archer is located in North Austin in a mixed used development called the Domain. There is tons of shopping and amazing restaurants all within walking distance. This hotel has only been opened since August of 2016 so everything was new and in impeccable condition. My husband and I rented a car so the drive to downtown was only about 15 minutes. I loved being able to experience North Austin and Downtown during our trip.

Our room was decorated with striking murals of beautiful horses, bright white bedding, and a massive bathtub. A glamorous vanity and spacious shower completed our impressive bathroom. The room was surprisingly very quiet despite the busy location and balcony. Speaking of the balcony, I have never stayed at a hotel that had a fireplace on the balcony and was seriously impressed. Sitting outside with the cool Austin breeze was perfect for enjoying our cheese plate and wine that the hotel graciously brought us. Archer definitely proved to be one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at.

Grabbing breakfast at Second Bar + Kitchen is a must whether you are staying at Archer or not. There is an entrance directly on the street in addition to going through the hotel. You’ll be blown away by the amazing high ceilings, natural light, and incredible food. The breakfast tacos were exquisite and our meals were light enough so that they didn’t weigh us down for the rest of the day. The restaurants stunning crisp, white bar will draw you in and you’ll never want to leave. We loved grabbing a cocktail at the bar before heading out for dinner each night.

Did I mention there is a rooftop pool and huge movie screen? This was our first trip to Austin and my husband and I were blown away by the hotel, its location, and all the Domain had to offer. If you are planning a trip to Austin, I cannot recommend Archer enough. The staff were attentive, accommodating and provided exceptional service. Thank you so much to Archer Hotel for hosting us! Our stay could not have been better and I cannot wait to return soon!

A Moms’ Night Out in Atlanta

Last month some friends and I decided to have a moms’ night out in Atlanta. We were so fortunate to have the Mandarin Oriental host us for the evening. You may remember that I stayed with them last year and had the most amazing experience. What I love so much about the Mandarin is that no matter if you’re by yourself, your partner, or some girlfriends, you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself and have an incredible visit. It’s also located in the heart of Buckhead so you are close to everything the city has to offer. Our first stop was Buckhead Beauty Bar for a mani/pedi.

This place does it all: nails, lashes (a trusted permanent eyelash extension suggests to visit a professional to get yours done). They welcome you with champagne and pamper you until the end. Also, their decor is modern monochrome which I immediately fell in love with.

After checking in to the Mandarin Oriental we were welcomed in the lobby to experience some tea and dim sum since we were visiting during Chinese New Year. Everything tasted incredible and the service was impeccable. I love Chinese food and was so excited to try everything (it didn’t disappoint). Our room was bright and spacious and the beds were luxurious and so comfy.

For dinner, the hotel car service took us to King & Duke for an unbelievable feast. This was only my second time visiting and I was seriously blown away with all the incredible flavors. They had just rolled out some new menu items and we got to taste so many delicious plates. I never knew Pimento Cheese Hushpuppies were a thing but I have been craving them for weeks now. The staff were so nice and accommodating and the chef definitely knew his way around the kitchen. The atmosphere and overall vibe was so fun. King & Duke should definitely be on your radar to visit in you live in Atlanta or have plans to visit.

After staying up way past our mommy bed time, we crashed in our plush beds. I had such an amazing night of sleep and went to bed so easily knowing I was going to be able to sleep past 6:30 for once. Our stay was completed with a beautiful breakfast spread and lots of coffee. Ordering breakfast in bed is probably the one thing I look forward to the most when staying at a hotel. The Mandarin food is superb and I am still dreaming about those cheese grits. Getting away for some girl time is exactly what I needed to feel recharged. If you’re in the Atlanta area and need some time away from the normal life chaos, a girls night out is for you.

If you’re a champagne lover like me, the Mandarin Oriental is hosting a champagne taking event in a few weeks. Tickets can be purchased here. A huge thank you to the Mandarin Oriental and King & Duke for hosting us and for the amazing service!

February Favorites

As a blogger, I’m really fortunate to get the opportunity to try and review new products. There are things I absolutely love and there are some that are not my favorite. I wanted to share with you today 5 items that I have really enjoyed and think you might too!

1. Nurture Life – I was sent several meals from this company for the kids to try, with no strings attached. I didn’t have to share with anyone if I didn’t love the meals but it turns out, the kids really enjoyed them. Nurture Life focuses on delivering fresh, wholesome, organic and ready-to-eat meals straight to your door on a weekly basis. This service is ideal for busy moms, working parents, or just anyone who doesn’t love to cook (like me!) Plans starting at just $45 per week and they’re the first and only ready-to-eat meal delivery service for children from the ages of 6 months to 18 years. The meals look like something you would see on a fancy menu and I love that my kids were able to try different things besides mac & cheese.

2. Curve Appeal Jeans – Usually I live in leggings, no matter the time of year. They are so comfortably and at this stage in my life, I like feeling comfortable 24/7. I have a hard time finding jeans I love because I can never find any that fit me right. A few months back I was sent a pair of black skinny jeans from Curve Appeal. I have lived in these since I received them (on the days I actually put jeans on). They’re so comfortable, stretchy, and flattering. I can’t wait to get more soon when the line launches at TJ Maxx this Spring.

3. Joonya Baby Wipes – This brand of baby wipes launched in Australia 5 months ago and have recently made their way to the US. The wipes are non-toxic – no alcohol, chlorine, petrochemicals, formaldehyde, parabens or phenols. The fabric is also biodegradable and great for the Earth. Another bonus, they are less expensive than Honest, Burt’s Bees, Water Wipes, Seventh Generation and BabyGanics. Joonya wipes average out to 5.5 cents each while the brands mentioned above go from 6 cents to over 9 cents each. These are thick, fragrant free, and not soapy. They have a washcloth like texture to them which makes cleaning up messes & bottoms a breeze.

4. MiniMaxwell Lovey – Evelyn is obsessed with her muslin swaddle blankets but they are becoming too big for her to be dragging around now that she’s older. I cringe thinking about how many germs get on those blankets. I found this smaller lovey that is easier for her to carry and doesn’t get so dirty. These 17″x17″ loveys from Mini Maxwell are the perfect size for your growing toddler. They are so soft and snuggly and fit perfectly in a diaper bag. Today and tomorrow you can save 10% on anything in the shop with code CHANEL.

5. Personalized Jewelry – I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t like big, chunky jewelry. Most days I forget to wear my wedding rings and you’ll never see me in a statement necklace. I feel claustrophobic with heavy things around my neck and my hair always gets stuck in fancy earrings. When I do decide to wear necklaces, they have to be super lightweight and dainty, which you can easily find on stores like Museum of Jewelry. This double name bar with my kids names is perfect for everyday wear and adds a personal touch. I love that several items like diamond earrings and necklaces from The Diamond Jewellery Studio are completely customizable and they make great gifts too.

Do you have any products you’ve discovered recently that you absolutely love? Let me know in the comments below and happy (almost) March!

A Feminine, Rustic Baby Shower

Last month I had the privilege of hosting a baby shower for one of my oldest and dearest friends. She is a first time mama expecting twin girls! She previously had a shower with her family, so this one was more laid back with some close girlfriends. It was Sunday at noon so I ordered some platters from Publix, picked up fruit and veggies trays, had plenty of champagne and non alcoholic drinks and then a few sweets. Everything was arranged on my own ceramic platters to match the modern theme (I can’t stand using the plastic trays the food comes on). I cannot stress enough how convenient it is to order food or anything pre-made. It saves so much time so that you can focus on decor and setting up. Balloons and colorful garlands are inexpensive and fill the room if you’re on a budget. Everything I used for this shower I already owned since I tend to buy neutral items that can be reused.

I love the idea of a wishing tree at showers. Guests can write down wishes and advice for the mom to be or for the baby. I had one at Evelyn’s baby shower and I saved all the cards in her baby book. I love looking back and reading them all and it’s a great keepsake for her to have. The Wishing Tree card is from a local Atlanta vendor, The Brumby Nest, who designs beautiful stationary and prints. The recycled wooden heart behind the chair added just the right amount of rustic to the feminine theme without going too overboard. The flowers were assorted bunches from Trader Joe’s which I spread around the tables and the house to add a pop of color and tie in with the rustic theme. The painted mason jars are from Etsy which you can find here.

You may remember this couch from a floral themed shower I threw last year, Evelyn’s Unicorn Party, or  our Christmas cards. The fact that it goes with so many events never ceases to amaze me. It’s the perfect backdrop for photos and adds the most beautiful pop of color. Hands down, it’s the nicest piece of furniture I own (thanks, Mom!) By the way, the mama-to-be is wearing a dress from Pink Blush and if you’re pregnant and need to look stylish, they have your back!

The Best Meal Service for Busy Moms

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I took the last week off from the blog because my husband and I went on a kids-free vacation to Austin and Houston! It was so much fun to get away, eat some amazing food, and see friends. Before I left for our trip I was able to try a new meal service that I ended up falling in love with. It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of cooking. The shopping, prepping, cooking, and cleaning just isn’t my cup of tea. By the time my stomach starts rumbling I don’t want to spend 40 minutes making a meal when I’m already hangry. Enter Dinner Thyme …  an amazing delivery service that ships fresh ingredients to your home for meals that can be made in under 15 minutes. Yes, you read that right. All meals made in 15 minutes or less. I love being able to cook a healthy meal without the hassle of shopping with two kids, chopping 20 different things, and worrying about a massive clean up when my house is already destroyed. There are also Prepared Meal Delivery services you can call if you want ready to eat meals delivered to you.

I love that these meals come with exactly what you need for a single serving. There are other options to order multiple servings, but I ordered these specially with lunch in mind. There are no left over ingredients or waste to worry about. I don’t have to stress about what I’m going to eat for lunch at home because I know I have Dinner Thyme options in my refrigerator. It definitely has limited my drive through trips! All the ingredients come labeled by letter and color. I was able to keep everything in the same drawer in the refrigerator and rest easy knowing the ingredients weren’t mixed up. My favorite of the three meals were the steak tacos because Mexican is my go-to cuisine of choice. I literally had this on my table to eat in 12 minutes! I set a timer to see if the “Meals in Under 15” was true, and IT WAS. The same goes for the deconstructed lasagne, salad, soba noddles and cheesecake. If you are craving for Hawaiian food, there are Hawaiian Restaurant Delivery services you can contact to satisfy your cravings at home. For those who are committed to living and eating healthy, there are companies you can call to have healthy meals delivered to your place.

Dinner Thyme was kind enough to hook one of my readers up with a $100 gift card so that they can try some of the meals. Entering is SO easy and takes less than 2 minutes. You can also get $20 off your first order with READYSETCOOK.  If you try Dinner Thyme (or have already tried it) let me know what you think in the comments below! Happy Eating & Good Luck!

Easy Valentine’s Backdrop

Last week my friend Josie and I got together so we could make an epic Valentine’s Day backdrop for some pictures. The best thing about this backdrop is that it didn’t cost us more than $20. We had the majority of the supplies left over from previous parties and holidays and only needed to buy the balloons and gaffer tape. It took slightly over an hour to make and there were only a few injuries from the hot glue gun 🙂 The backdrop is actually a piece of wood cut 4′ x 5′ which you can get done at Lowes or Home Depot. After you’ve gathered your decorations, the fun part begins. You can literally have complete creative control over this project because there is no right or wrong way to add the decor. It’s also perfect for any holiday or occasion. Add some donuts or cupcakes to keep the kids occupied and start snapping. It was super fun and they had the best time! I wish I could keep this forever because it really is the cutest thing in my house right now. Can it just be Valentine’s Day forever?

Tea Time with Harney & Sons

When people ask me if I’m a coffee or tea person, I can never answer it because to me, coffee and tea are so vastly different. Coffee wakes me up in the morning and I drink it when I need an energy boost, but I can usually only drink it in the first half of the day or else I’ll be up all night. With tea, I can enjoy it all day long, even right before bed (hello sleepy time tea!) I think of tea as calming, soothing, and relaxing. I like to have a cup at night, or on a chilly morning, because it calms me down. When I was pregnant I couldn’t stand the smell of coffee for awhile, so I drank tea! There are literally thousands of tea options, so there is definitely something for everyone. Hands down my favorite tea brand is Harney & Sons. I was first introduced to them when I bought one of their canisters on a whim at Target years ago because I thought it was cute. Little did I know that I would quickly become obsessed with all their flavors and blends. Even after 30 years, Harney & Sons Tea remains family owned and managed and all their teas are produced in the USA. If that wasn’t reason enough to love this brand, this year Harney & Sons will have donated over half a million dollars to 1% for the Planet. Through 1% for the Planet, they are able to drive positive environmental change in their geographical region. To learn more about the non-profits they support, click here. In my opinion, they also have the highest quality, best tasting gourmet teas on the market.

I chose some of my favorite blends and flavors for this post because I can honestly attest to their greatness. Paris is one of the most popular blends from Harney & Sons consisting of a fruity black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors. It also contains a hint of lemony Bergamot. Vanilla is definitely my favorite flavor and the Vanilla Comoro is a decaf option for those wanting to cut back on caffeine. I love that I can drink this at night and still sleep peacefully. For a morning boost, the Peppermint Herbal is my go to flavor of choice. The aroma of the peppermint helps to increase alertness which I definitely need after waking up with the kids before the sun comes up. It too, is caffeine free which I appreciate because I experience zero crashing come afternoon. I can make a quick cup whenever I need a pick-me-up and not worry about the jitters. Sometimes I am not in the mood for a hot beverage, so I keep the Pomegranate Oolong iced tea on hand when I need a cool refresher. Even though the scent is strong when you open the canister, the flavor is a light and fruity and not at all overwhelming. The Winter White Earl Gray is my favorite to drink year round and actually the first flavor from Harney & Sons I ever tried … that was the canister I purchased at Target years ago because of its appearance. If you’re new to the tea game, I would recommend trying this classic white tea. It is more of a mild tea, but still is full of flavor.

Harney & Sons carries several different types of Matcha tea. I am not a huge fan on the taste but the main reason I like this tea is because it’s so good for you. It is high in antioxidants, boosts memory, given you energy, burns calories, detoxifies body, and much more. Matcha literally means “powdered tea.” One cup of Matcha tea generally contains about 35 mg of caffeine, which is slightly more compared to a cup of regular green tea. Matcha green tea can be served with hot water, over ice, or with sweeteners and milk. It’s one of the few teas that can be used in food recipes such as smoothies, cookies and ice cream. I am dying to try all of these amazing recipes.

There are several benefits to drinking tea. It contains antioxidants and has less caffeine than coffee. Tea may reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke and help with weight loss. It also can boost your immune system and  according to the research conducted on animals, it reduces the risk of kidney and liver damage, thus lowering the rates of blood sugar, triglyceride, and cholesterol.

Are you a tea lover like me? If so, let me know what your favorite blends are in the comments below so I can check them out. Happy Monday, everyone!
