St. Patty’s Day Sweets Board – Two Ways

Can’t stop, won’t stop with all the holiday candy boards! I have been on a kick since last Halloween and have made them for every holiday since. As you know, I am a sucker for holiday colors and themes and candy board are so easy and fun to make. There isn’t a lot of green candy out there so mixing that color with rainbows and white made this board easy to achieve. PS: I hope these Lady Gaga Oreo’s stay forever!!

Dollar Stores, CVS, Target, Kroger, Party City, Publix etc. all have a wide range of green candy. The Lady Gaga pink and green Oreo’s are special edition and I’m not sure how long they will be around. The Lucky Charms marshmallows, Mint Kit Kat Bars and St. Patty’s cookies and cupcakes are also seasonal but everything else is stocked year round.

As far as the healthy St. Patty snack board, this was much easier. I didn’t realize how many green fruits and veggies there were until I started shopping for them. My kids definitely ate more of the veggie platter than the sweets platter and it was shocking. I guess arranging fruits and veggies cutely on a wooden board helps a ton 🙂 Are you team sweets or team veggies?

Baffi Atlanta Restaurant Guide

Have you ever had a really extraordinary dish or cocktail that you dream about for days later? How about several from the same place? Last week I got to try out Baffi, Atlanta’s newest Italian eatery on the Westwide of the city. To say I was blown away was an understatement. Everything I tasted was better than the last.

I loathe kale. It’s my least favorite veggie of all time. When I asked on Instagram what I should try from Baffi, several of my followers insisted I get the Kale Salad. They said it was life changing and boy were they right. I have been dreaming of the Baffi Kale Salad for the last week. Everything I ordered by name for reference was as follows: Sweet Potato Pan Cake, Salumi, Kale Salad, Cast Iron Sunburst Trout, JW Potatoes and Black Forrest Tiramisu.

Drinks that are a MUST: Lake Tahoe, Mustache Ride and the classic Daiquiri. A good craft cocktail will always bring me back to an establishment and Baffi delivers on drinks as well as food. For dessert the Black Forrest Tiramisu will change your life. I’m wishing I would have gotten an extra piece to go for the next day.

Baffi is open Tuesday – Thursday: 5 pm – 9 pm, Friday & Saturday: 5 pm – 10 pm and closed Sunday & Monday. Their outdoor patio will open once warmer weather comes to Atlanta!

Valentine’s Day Brunch Ideas

I may be a Halloween girl at heart but my second favorite holiday in terms of color and decor is definitely Valentine’s Day. Something about the explosion of hearts, shades of reds and pinks, and overall love theme suckers me in. My Instagram feed for the past 4+ weeks has been a Valentine’s Day explosion and I will be sad to see it go in a few days. Today I want to recap my second annual Valentine’s Day brunch that I styled and hosted last weekend. Themed parties are my lifeline and I am so happy with how this one came out!

I find the majority of my candy board sweets at Target and Kroger. They are in the Valentine’s Day section and are typically put out in early January. That’s when I start stocking up. Home Goods is a great place for the fun marshmallows and Trader Joe’s has cute themed gummies and cookies. Cupcakes can easily be found at any grocery store so I have never special ordered those. You can always request that the bakery icing cupcakes in your color of choice and then you can add whatever cute Valentine’s Day topper you find. They are everywhere!

Cookies – Casey’s Cookies & Cakes

Bagels – Dear Friend Bagels – available at Spiller Park

Cake – Santini Mini Sweets

Chocolate Cocoa Bombs & Popsicles – Wonder Desserts Co.

Donuts – Claudia Martinez, Atlanta Pastry Chef

This is my second year in a row hosting a Valentine’s Day brunch for my girlfriends and I love it. This years dress theme was 50’s Vintage Prom. My dress is from Dolls Kill! I did a round up of some of their dresses in a previous post here. Until next year! xoxo

Galentine’s Day Brunch Ideas

I’m pretty sure I was born to host. It brings me so much joy to set up holiday themed tablescapes for my friends and family. I am gearing up to host two more Galentine’s Day parties within the next ten days and wanted to share the images from last years Valentine’s Day brunch. Stores start putting our Valentine’s Day decor, sweets and food around January 1, sometimes even earlier. I definitely start stocking up once I see the novelty items hit the shelves! Brunch is so fun and easy to host because so many breakfast options are easily available that you don’t need to make ahead of time. Yogurt, granola, pastries, fresh fruit, salad, a quick quiche plus some sweets, mimosas and a coffee bar and you’re good to go! Often times my get togethers will be pot luck style and everyone brings a dish. This will also save you a ton of time prepping. Happy Love Month!

The Perfect Valentine’s Day Dress

Most of the time the suggested Facebook ads are not anything I would order. A few weeks ago however they got it right. While I was searching for Valentine’s Day dresses, an ad for Dolls Kill popped up. I had heard of this site before and browsed it here and there but never saw any clothing I just had to have (they have amazing accessories though). This time though several dresses caught my eye. Here’s what I got!

Dresses, especially unique senior prom dresses, can definitely be a girl’s best friend, ranging from dresses for an apple shape to an hourglass shape. No body is created equally and in the word of women’s fashion, almost nothing can fit perfectly to all individual body types. As women, we often come down hard on ourselves if our clothes don’t fit perfectly and we blame ourselves. However, our bodies are so unique that we need to understand them before we can choose our Shona Joy Dress.

First up is this bubblegum pink Floral Jacquard Babydoll Dress. The square neckline and puff sleeves could not be more Valentine’s Day appropriate.

Short Pink Wig // Lips Phone // Heart Sunglasses // Jeweled Glasses // Birdies Slippers // Pink Sequin Curtains Backdrop // Long Pink Wig // Pink Shag Rug // Heart Balloons

This Ruched Corset Dress wouldn’t necessarily be something I’d be drawn to but I thought it was perfect for my 12 Dresses of Valentine’s series. I’m wearing an XL in all the dresses from Dolls Kill and have found that their sizing runs a bit on the smaller side (especially for curvy girls) so definitely size up!

I am a sucker for a good puff sleeve. I literally cannot say no. When I saw this Red Satin Puff Sleeve Babydoll dress I had to have it. In fact, I loved it so much that I also bought it in black (thinking ahead for Halloween and also, you can never have too many black dresses). Have you ordered from Dolls Kill? What item(s) did you love the most?

Valentine’s Day Heart Waffles

If you’ve been following me on Instagram the past few weeks then you know I have a serious obsession with the Dash Mini Waffle Makers. You can see all the creations I have been making on this highlight reel. Since I’m all about the Valentine’s Day content now I knew I wanted to expand on the basic heart waffle and who doesn’t love chocolate and sprinkles? The kids loved these and were on a sugar high for approximately 4.5 hours so definitely feed them these before school or going to grandma’s house 🙂

You will need:

Dash Mini Heart Waffle Maker

Waffle Mix

Red Food Coloring

White & Pink Melting Chocolates

Valentine’s Day Sprinkles (They are cheapest at Kroger, Publix, Target etc)

Directions:

1. Make desired number of waffles on waffle maker and set on cooling rack. I made 2 batches – 1 batch of plain waffles and another batch with a few drops of red food dye added in.

2. Melt candy chocolates according to package. I used the double broiler method. Simmer a few inches of water in a medium size saucepan. Stack a metal bowl on top of the saucepan, making sure the bowl fits snugly. Pour the entire bag of melts into the bowl and stir continuously once the chocolate starts to melt. I couldn’t find pink candy melts so I used white with a few drops of red food coloring. I also like to mix a few spoonfuls of coconut oil to thin out the chocolate for easier application.

3. Dip or use a knife/spoon to spread desired amount of melted chocolate on the waffles. Immediately add sprinkles before chocolate hardens.

Serve immediately since the waffles get soggy after a while. They are great for a party or playdate decorating station!
