The Dude Halloween Costume

The Big Lebowski is a cult classic and one of the best films to come out in the past 25 years. The Dude is also the 6th male character I have dressed up as this month. I didn’t have to do any hair or makeup which felt SO good after doing it for literally every other costume! The shorts I found for $5 at my local Goodwill and I already had the white t shirt and sandals. The only items I needed to purchase were the wig, goatee, robe and sunglasses (which I found at a gas station for $7). Overall, this costume is super easy and very comfortable. The robe keeps you warm too if you live in a cooler climate during Halloween.  I’ve linked everything below but I highly recommend checking out your local thrift store to source this costume!

Beauxbaton School Girl Costume

I admit this was the tamest out of all the costumes for the month. I didn’t have to wear a wig and got to wear my everyday makeup! Our family costume a few years ago were the classic Harry Potter characters and I knew one day I would want to dress up as others. The Beauxbaton School Girls make their appearance in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and are definitely the best dressed wizards. buy fildena online https://blobuyinfo.com/fildena.html no prescription
I wanted to shoot this at the train station in Atlanta but unfortunately they were closed. We made do with the stairs outside and I think they turned out even better! The costume for this character isn’t even a costume, but just a blouse and skirt from Chic Wish.  I love this blouse so much I might end up keeping it. The hat and wand are from Amazon and I wore heels I already owned. Overall, this costume was easy, effortless and super comfortable!

Edward Scissorhands Halloween Costume

I kicked off my 31 days of Halloween series with a Tim Burton character and knew I wanted to include another classic in the group. Edward Scissorhands is one of his greatest films and so recognizable. Britney brought him to life with her makeup talent which is spot on. After reading several reviews of the bagged Edward costume I decided to piece together my own. I bought a $5 black shirt from Target and cut my own holes in it, used a black tutu which I use often for costumes and the other items linked below. Britney let me borrow the studded gloves and boots which were the perfect additions. Goodwill is a great place to source mismatched belts for cheap and a few of the other items too! You could even do the other look where he wears a white mens dress shirt over his black clothes which may be easier if you’re having a hard time sourcing the other items.

The Shining Twins Halloween Costume

The Shining is the first horror film I ever saw and to this day it’s the reason why scary movies scare me so much. I think I was too young to see it when I did (blame that on the babysitter) but I had nightmares for years and years about this movie. Naturally, I knew The Grady Twins were a must costume for this series. Kera and I couldn’t find a hotel with old floral wallpaper so we shot the “scene” in a parking garage and prayed a photoshop/3D wizard could take the image and realistically place it in the actual hotel hallway. The movie was downloaded in 4K and we were rendered into the film still. Special thanks to Derek Haller for doing this! If you’re looking for costume to do with a friend, this one is perfect!

Maleficent Halloween Costume

Dressing up as a Disney villain is so fun. Everyone knows who they are and everyone has opinions on who is the baddest. Maleficent has always been my favorite Disney villain. I love her style, attitude and most importantly, her horns. For this costume I wore the same black dress that I did for Elvira and Morticia. It’s a great dress to have on hand since it can work for so many characters. I already had the feather shawl from Dragon Con and the other pieces were super easy to source. I’ve linked several options below for you to create your own Maleficent look. If you have a daughter this is a great mommy and me Halloween costume as well. Evelyn loves being a princess and couldn’t wait to dress up as Aurora. I can’t believe Halloween is only a week away! Why does the best month of the year have to go by so fast?!

Marie Antoinette Halloween Costume

Hear me out, I think Kirsten Dunst’s best role was in Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette.  I love, love, LOVE the costumes in this movie. After all, it did win the Oscar for Best Achievement in Costume Design. Marie Antoinette is a highly recognizable historical figure so the wig alone will give away who you are. If you buy one of the long dresses below, you must get the hoop petticoat or the dress will hang flat. They’re super inexpensive and actually good to have in your closet for other costumes.  Marie Antoinette’s makeup is super simple. She doesn’t wear any eyeshadow or eyeliner, her cheeks are rosy pink and you can either wear a nude lip or a bright red. The makeup took me under 5 minutes! I’ve linked my dress below as well as several other options.

Halloween Safe Activities

*This post was sponsored by Lemi Shine. All thoughts and opinions are my own*

Trick or Treating may be cancelled in a lot of cities but that doesn’t mean that Halloween needs to be cancelled! Celebrating can still safely happen with your immediate family, a few close friends or your quarantine pod! We will still be hosting our annual Halloween party just with the 2 other families that have been coming over for years. There are 6 kids, 3 boys and 3 girls, ranging in age from 4-8, and this year I am putting together a few extra outdoor activities in case trick or treating is cancelled in the neighborhood. Luckily Halloween is on a Saturday so the kids can enjoy the holiday all day long!

    1. Halloween Backyard Egg Hunt – What better way to keep the excitement going all day than to have an egg hunt. If you are limited to outdoor space you can hide eggs in your home as well! I stuffed orange and green colored eggs with candy and small Halloween toys. Egg hunts don’t need to be reserved for just Easter!
    2. Outdoor Bounce House – I rent one of these every year for Halloween and the kids love it! It’s a great way to burn off energy from all the candy, especially if they are unable to run door to door this year! Google Bounce House Rentals and your city to find a company near you!
    3. Pumpkin Painting Station – You don’t need to visit a pumpkin patch to stock up on mini pumpkins Grab some acrylic paint, brushes and butcher paper from your local craft store to set up a fun decorating station. **This can also be a carving station as long as a parent is there to do the carving and cutting. Let the kids help pull out the seeds and then bake them for a sugar-free snack**
    4. Cookie Decorating – Keeping in line with the decorating stations, a cookie one is perfect entertainment for kids. You can buy premade/unfrosted cookies from most grocery stores or make them yourself at home. The squeeze frosting is the best for little hands and the easiest clean up too! Grab some cute Halloween sprinkles and you will be all set! Weather permitting, this is a great activity to do on an outside table!

As with all parties and gatherings this year, keeping family and friends safe is the number one priority. Be sure to check out the CDC’s recommendations for Halloween and wash your hands! It’s also very important to disinfect and keep surfaces clean and germ free, especially ones that your guests will be touching. Lemi Shine Disinfecting Wipes with Fresh Lemon Scent are safe for use on everything from kitchen countertops to doorknobs. They’re bleach-free, with Citric Acid as the active ingredient, and kills 99.9% of germs, including Staph, Salmonella, and E. Coli. Lemi Shine disinfecting wipes contain 100% biodegradable ingredients and are the first wipe that the EPA has certified as designed for the environment and effective against SARS-Cov-2, the cause of COVID-19. I’ve been using the wipes around the house and car for the past few weeks and they work wonderfully. I love the smell and they have worked on every surface. I specifically use them on the door, drawer, cabinet, toilet and fridge handles, the counters, my car steering wheel and areas inside the car. Now that the kids are back in school it’s extra important to keep surfaces clean and germ-free. Lemi Shine offers a ton of cleaning products for all your household needs. I especially love their Disposal Cleaner which I have been using for years. It really gets rid of all the sink smells and nastiness. You can check out their full line here and here to find a store near you.

Right now they are available at HEB + Kroger stores and nationally later this year. Supply is limited, so it’s recommended to go to the store in the morning if you can, since the restocks happen overnight. Have you tried Lemi Shine Disinfecting Wipes? What were your thoughts? We’re also looking into Virtual Santa Visits this Christmas because of the pandemic. Also, tell me what your Halloween plans are for this year!
