Why Tallahassee Needs to be on your Radar

Spending time in Florida needs to be on everyone’s travel list. It really is the perfect state for every age and walk of life. I visited different parts of Florida 7 times so far this year and each time gets better than the last. There is always so much to do, see and explore. Last month I hopped on flight to Tallahassee and spent the weekend there. Atlanta flies directly into Tallahassee and the flight was super quick! The Tallahassee airport is so close to the heart of the city that you can literally be off the plane and to your hotel in 30 minutes. The city of Tallahassee definitely spoiled us with some amazing experiences and incredible food and today I am so excited to finally share it all with you!

Where to Stay //

Aloft Tallahassee Downtown is such a trendy boutique hotel located in the heart of Tallahassee. The rooms are cozy and quiet, there’s a lobby bar that serves craft beer and cocktails, a pink pool table, plenty of shared workspace and seating and the best part: dogs in the lobby that you can pet, hold and adopt! In addition there is a cafe with snacks, breakfast options and plenty of coffee.

Where to Eat & Drink//

Breweries – Tallahasseans love their beer so there are a ton of craft breweries to spend an afternoon at. We were able to experience Proof Brewing Co and get a behind the scenes tour. I loved tasting all the different beers and  Proof is also kid friendly with plenty of indoor and outdoor games. They’re open 7 days a week and have an onsite restaurant. When we visited there was a baby shower happening in one of the private rooms. So fun!

Happy Motoring – I have 3 words for this spot: Adult Capri Suns. The end … Just kidding! But seriously, this was such a fun after dinner spot and there is no better way to end the night than enjoying a cool breeze surrounded by friends. Happy Motoring is also pet and kid friendly!

Magda’s Ice Cream – Located next to Madison Social in Collegetown, this is another must visit staple if you’re into boozy sweets! If you’re looking for the perfect ice cream cone picture for your Instagram feed, then you have to visit Magda’s.

Level 8 Lounge – This rooftop bar is located inside the Hotel Duval. You can experience the incredible views of Tallahassee from the 8th floor and watch the sunset before heading out to dinner.

Il Lusso – We were so spoiled by the service and staff at Il Lusso. We literally tried nearly everything on the menu and it was the highlight meal of the trip. I am partial to Italian and pastas and Il Lusso made all my carb dreams come true. From Lobster Cappelletti to Squid Ink Mafaldine, everything I tasted was phenomenal. This fine Italian eatery definitely needs to be on your restaurant list when visiting.

Au Péché Mignon French Pastry Shop – The perfect morning spot to grab coffee and pastries before work or on the weekends with friends. The decor is a dream and very Instagram worthy.

Madison Social – If you ever want to relive your college days, then go here on a Friday night! I was a little apprehensive about spending my evening in a college bar (after all, I am 35 and usually in bed by 9pm) but I had the absolute best time. The drinks and food could not have been better. There was even a cocktail with coffee so it has me thinking that maybe it’s not just for college kids 🙂

Jeri’s Midtown Cafe – If you’re in the mood for some amazing home cooking and supporting women in business than Jeri’s is the spot for you. It’s open daily for lunch and then on the weekends for brunch. The staff, including Jeri herself, are so pleasant and welcoming and I loved getting to hear her story. She is a true gem!

Sage – This will always be a memorable place for me because it was the first time I ever tried Escargot! The food is amazing and so fresh with a menu showcasing the best local produce & seafood.

SoDOUGH Baking Co – If you are a foodie like me and love a good Instagrammable breakfast spot, then SoDOUGH is a must. The donuts are so beautiful that it was hard to even eat them, they’re that pretty and camera worthy! They also have toasts, sandwiches, biscuits and breads if you don’t have a sweet tooth.

Backwoods Crossing – We ended our trip with dinner at this gourmet local farm to table Tallahassee gem. Not only does Backwoods Crossing source local fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, and wine from local producers, but they grow their own. And they have the farm and animals to prove it. We were able to tour the farm and greenhouse and I held a chicken y’all! She was so sweet and chill and since holding her that evening I haven’t had chicken since, haha! You can actually eat outdoors among the garden where everything is grown.

What to See & Where to Play //

Fire Betty’s Arcade – You can watch the FSU game, play some retro arcade games and enjoy some fun cocktails and plenty of beer. There is also weekly karaoke, dance parties and live music.

The Grove Museum – If you need some time to walk off the calories consumed at all the amazing restaurants and are looking for a change of pace, then The Grove Museum is perfect. The picturesque grounds make for a beautiful stroll taking in the Tallahassee history. There are guided tours available daily and the museum is also kid friendly.

Wakulla Springs – The world’s largest and deepest freshwater springs where you can see manatees, alligators and numerous other diverse wildlife. We took the riverboat tour and saw so many alligators and turtles! It was so peaceful and a wonderful way to experience nature. The park and riverboat are also kid friendly and a great way for children to see animals in their natural habitat.

Zeboats is one of the leading providers of small sailing boats for sale. It also happens to be a very popular seller of powerboats and yachts, so if you are in the market for a new boat, but don’t have the cash to go out and buy one yet, you should definitely take a look at some of the boats that Zeboats has on offer. If you are in the market for a small sailing dinghy, then you will probably want to check out the Poppy, which is a 7-passenger craft that runs at a very impressive 33 knots. It has excellent handling and comes with a deluxe accessories package, which includes a mast, sails, boom box, radio, full owner’s manual and more. If getting outdoors and experiencing nature to its fullest is your thing, then Tallahassee will not disappoint.

Something many people may not know is that Tallahassee has 700+ miles of scenic trails for biking, hiking or running. Countless studies and research have consistently shown that regular exercise not only improves our overall health and fitness, but lengthens and improves the quality of our lives. Regular physical activity substantially reduces the risk of dying of coronary heart disease, and decreases the risk for colon cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure. It also helps to control weight; contributes to healthy bones, muscles, and joints; helps to relieve the pain of arthritis; reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression; and is associated with fewer hospitalizations and physician visits. Where to Shop //

Hearth & Soul – This was one of the most beautiful stores I have ever stepped foot in. The layout, ambiance and design were a visual dream. I literally felt like I was in a show home. The smells, the gifts, the staff, the selection of merchandise … everything was so thoughtfully picked out and it shows. I bought some fun chocolates for the kids and a beautiful nightgown which I can finally wear since temps have cooled down!

Coton Colors – If you love hosting and entertaining then you will be in heaven visiting Coton Colors. They also have an adorable children’s section with a wide variety of gifts and toys.

Railroad Arts District – Tallahassee has a great local arts scene with some uber talented artists. This creative district has more than 50 art studios, galleries & small shops, a brewery, dance studio, restaurant, cafe, rock climbing gym and more. It’s centrally located in the middle of Tallahassee and a great way to spend an afternoon.

One thing I love the most about these press trips is connecting with other bloggers from around the US. I met 4 new girls who I absolutely loved. Be sure to follow Vidya, Candace, Courtney and Odette. They are all so sweet and have the best style of any girls I’ve ever met! A huge thank you to the city of Tallahassee for welcoming us and being so hospitable! If you’re having thought moving here, fret not! It’s one of the best states to live on! How to Experience 30+ Atlanta Restaurants in Just 5 hours

Hartsfield-Jackson airport is the busiest and most efficient airport in the world. Let that sink in. They average around 275,000 passengers a day so you know an airport this busy has to come through with all the good food. A few weeks ago I visited Hartsfield-Jackson not to travel, but to eat! I was previewing some of the food that will be featured at Taste of Hartsfield-Jackson later this month.

I love trying and exploring food from around the world, from French cuisine to caribbean food and Asian-fusion, I want to try ’em all! I didn’t know I’ll be able to try a good variety of food at an airport. Typically, when I come to the airport I grab some coffee, fast food and head to my gate. I had no idea that there were so many amazing places to eat at Hartsfield-Jackson and was truly blown away by the amazing food. I got to sample menu items from Cat Cora’s Kitchen, One Flew South, Atlanta Chophouse, Papis and Stillhouse.

Never once did it feel like I was eating inside an airport. The cuisine and menu items were prepared as if I was dining in the city. The craft cocktails were some of the best I’ve ever had and it seemed like with each restaurant they got better and better.

On Tuesday, October 29 from 11am-4pm, Taste of Hartsfield-Jackson will be held in the Domestic Terminal Atrium. There will be over 30 eateries participating and tickets are only $15 (for 10 tickets, 1 ticket per taste). In addition to trying out some of the best food the airport has to offer, there will be a chef competition and live music. The event is hosted by Jernard Wells (Food Network & Cooking Channel) whom I met a few weeks ago when I previewed the event. He is so funny and charismatic that I know he’ll be an amazing addition to the day!

This year, proceeds from Taste of Hartsfield-Jackson will benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The ACFB distributes nearly 70 million pounds of food and groceries a year to 600 nonprofit partner feeding programs, including after-school programs, senior centers, community kitchens, shelters and food pantries in metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

Halloween Under $50 with Dollar General

This post is sponsored by Dollar General. The thoughts and opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Anyone who knows me in real life or by following me on Instagram knows that I am 100% Halloween obsessed. Each year I go all out for our annual Halloween party which quite frankly is my favorite day of the year. I admit that I can go a little overboard in making sure everything is just right and have spent way too much money in years past. But not this year, thanks to DG!

I don’t have endless funds to spend on food, drinks and candy and we all know kids are bottomless pits. My favorite way to make the most of my party budget is by doing the majority of my shopping at Dollar General. They are my one-stop Halloween shop for items like candy, décor, party items, bags & pails and costumes and accessories.

I love to prioritize decorations first and foremost so that’s where I spend most of my allocated budget. Dollar General has tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins, serving ware and so much more for a fraction of the cost that other retailers charge. I was able to get everything I needed for this tablescape for under $50! And that includes all the snacks and drinks too. Speaking of drinks – I chose these soft drinks because of their orange color so they would match with the table decor. Plus, my kids are obsessed with Fanta and the mini cans are perfect for little hands and bodies.

Dollar General has a lot of classic treats like popcorn balls, candy corn and orange cotton candy. Those 3 treats mixed with some black devils food cookies and fudge mint cookies helped me in keeping with the Halloween color theme.

By shopping at Dollar General I was able to get enough food for 10 kids, candy to hand out to trick or treaters and plenty of unique decor items for the table and around the house. My favorite decor find this year are the small plastic pumpkins which can be used for table decor, mantel decor or to place throughout the house. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to bring Halloween decor into every room without buying a lot of bulky items.

Have you checked out your local Dollar General for all of your Halloween needs?

Halloween Home Tour

This year I get to decorate two houses for Halloween so it basically feels like Christmas right now. I moved into my town home in July and am still getting situated but I knew I wanted to decorate the mantel and bookshelves first. They’re the focal point of the room and main floor and it’s where the kids and I spend most of our time.

My favorite place to find Halloween decor is Home Goods! They have the most unique things at a great price. I also love Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Party City and Target. Surprisingly, I don’t order too much decor online. If you have any favorite online sites you love for decor, leave it in the comments so I can get them out!

I have to say that the house decor last year was definitely my favorite. You can check it out here for more spooky inspo. If you are needing more inspiration then hop on over to the following ladies home tours. They always have the best holiday content and totally inspire me to decorate all year long: Kozy & Co, Lo Chandler, Darling Do. Happy decorating, friends!

5 Bedroom Items That Are Worth The Splurge

I invest the most in my bedding because it’s a recharging station. I feel the most comfortable and stress free in bed and my bedroom is definitely my favorite room of the house, I even added some modern flush mount lighting so it can look better at night. If you want to add more lighting, then visit sites like xpertelectricllc.com/electrical/lighting-services/ to install one for you. Sleep is as important as my health is to me so investing in high quality products that I use for over 8 hours a day is a necessity.

Firts of all make sure that you have a comfy bed to ensure that you will have a good time when sleeping, if you would like to see the bed options that you have available to buy visit tvbedstore.co.uk. Here are my top 5 bedroom items that are worth the cost!

Leesa Mattress – As someone who has tried a ton of new mattresses that have come out in the past 5 years, I can hands down say that this Leesa is my favorite. I have the hybrid mattress which is made of both foam and springs. The top quilting is soft and breathable and it’s just firm enough to support my back and spine without being too hard. I’ve slept on my mattress for over 60 days now and have no complaints whatsoever. If you’re looking for a good mattress and don’t know where to start, then visit sites like www.dewaardandbode.com/mattress-brands/.

Parachute Down Pillow – I bought two of the standard size because a king pillow is honestly too big for me, haha. Even a standard size will set you back $109 a pop but again, I don’t mind investing in products that will give me a great nights sleep. Just like with mattresses, I have tried so many pillows over the years (and spent way too much money in the process). These pillows are honestly the best pillows I’ve ever slept on in 35 years. They come with a 3 year warranty and are machine washable. Fun Fact: Parachute pillows are made in Cincinnati, Ohio – my birthplace!

Brooklinen Sheets – These are the first Percale sheets I have owned and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. The Classic Core Sleep Set from Booklinen feels super luxurious and even though they’re on the pricey side ($149 for a king set) they are 100% worth it. Percale is also lightweight and breathable, making it ideal for hot sleepers and those who live in warmer climates (looking at you, Atlanta).

slip Silk Pillow Case – Before you start rolling your eyes, hear me out on this one. Silk pillowcases are not just for Buckhead Betty’s. They create a smooth surface for your hair and skin to glide over, and with less friction there will be less creases on your skin and less frizz in your hair. Silk also has cooling capabilities and since I am hot natured, anything with a cooling property is needed. Silk fibers absorb less than other fibers, so they help keep your skin’s moisture on your face and not your pillow. I’ve gotten so accustomed to sleeping on a silk pillowcase that I even bring them with me when I travel. Yes, I am 100% that person.

Marpac Dohm White Noise Sound Machine – I spent 4 years living in NYC and grew accustomed to the loud street noise. Ever since then I cannot sleep without noise. Once my kids were born the street noise switched to white noise and after several trial and error sound machines, I finally settled on the Marpac Dohm. I even pack it when I travel because it is such a crucial part of a good nights sleep for me. You can also add in furniture to brighten up your bedroom space. For that, you can check out sites like www.homeaccents2.com/bedroom/.

Making the Most of Family Time

This post is sponsored by Bona but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Making the most of the time I have with the kids is extremely important. Now that they are both in school and gone for nearly 8 hours a day my time with them is limited. Especially since the evenings are filled with homework, ballet, lunch prep, dinner, bath time, reading and bed time. I really try my hardest to complete house work while they’re at school but there are days when I just can’t get everything done, so tasks like cleaning are pushed back to evenings and weekends. I try to make cleaning as stress free as possible and still interact with the kids while I do it. The TV and iPads stay off and I’m able to engage in conversation with them, hear about their day and still take time to have pretend picnics on the floor. Quality time is key at this stage of their life so I try to be present as much as I can.

Wood floors run throughout my home, so they are the first thing anyone will notice if they’re dusty or dirty. I’ve lived with carpet my entire life and quite frankly I was over it 15 years ago. Thankfully, there are plenty of services for carpet cleaning in Auckland. Maintaining hardwoods can be time consuming if you aren’t cleaning the smart way. I’ve used the Bona Quick Clean System for years. It comes with the premium microfiber mop, disposable wet cleaning pads and disposable dry dusting pads. The Bona mop is lightweight and portable which I love. No lugging sweepers and buckets of water up the stairs. The microfiber dusting pad is key for trapping dust, dirt and food crumbs. The Bona Microfiber dusting head does a great job of attracting and picking up dirt, dust, and hair instead of just pushing it around the floor into a pile like a standard broom does. The cleaning solution is streak-free, residue-free and fast drying (the last thing any parent wants is their child to slip and fall!) The Bona Mop has the largest base plate out of any similar mop which makes cleaning fast and easy. The assembly of the mop takes less than 2 minutes, the cleaner dries in record speed with no dulling residue, and the retractable handle hook allows for easy storage. What I love most is that the pads easily come right off and can be tossed in the washer.

What are some tips that have helped you make the most of family time now that school is back in? Be sure to follow Bona on Instagram and check out their website for helpful cleaning tips!

The Easiest Way to Make Time for Friends as an Adult

My friends come in all ages. Some are single mothers, some are mama’s to be, some are done having kids, some haven’t had kids, some are dating and some are married, some are more open minded and hook-up for casual sex using adult dating. I love knowing these women at different stages in their life. One thing that can be hard to navigate is making the time to see each other in person.

That “spark” between two people is usually used in a romantic context, but it’s very much present between friends, too. Having people you can just talk to, be with, spend time with — whatever makes personalities click for love matters for friendship, too. If you are looking for people to hang with, check out this online dating websites.

Between jobs, kids and life in general, it can be very tough. However, as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized that the people who want to be in your life will make the time and vice versa. Even though we all have our own families who we love and adore, our friendship is like a chosen family that enhances our lives. Call this 24hr London escorts or visit their site.

Probably the easiest way to catch up is over lunch or dinner. It doesn’t have to be a lengthy all night thing and since we all have day jobs we know we can easily commit to an hour lunch without feeling guilty for cutting it short. One of our favorite places to go is Chili’s® Grill & Bar! There is something for everyone at Chili’s because it’s both kid and family friendly, and you can eat at an affordable price. Last week some girlfriends and I got together for lunch to enjoy Chili’s 3 for $10 meals! We each were able to get a non-alcoholic beverage, appetizer and entree for only $10 each. The Bacon Ranch Chicken Quesadillas were to die for and of course I can never resist chips and salsa. There are so many choices and plenty of food. We even had some leftovers which we were able to bring home to enjoy later.

If you’re a busy mom, working parent, or just need a break from kitchen duties in general, then the Chili’s 3 for $10 meal is for you. This affordable dining option will give you that much-needed night out that we all so desperately need! Do you have a chosen family of friends that you love to catch up with? What are some of the easiest ways to keep in touch with them? If you haven’t tried the Chili’s 3 for $10 menu, be sure to check them out next time you need to reconnect with family or friends!
