30 Minute Pear, Gorgonzola & Prosciutto Pizza

One thing I’ve learned since starting this blog is that many mothers and young women are equally busy, all the time. Just because you can’t devote hours in the kitchen crafting delicious treats and meals shouldn’t make you feel like you can’t prepare yummy food. Luckily my husband loves to cook and takes on that task almost nightly. However, when he is out of town for days at a time, the kids can’t survive on cereal and happy meals, so some cooking has to happen on my part. There are two go-to foods that my kids are obsessed with, and those are pizza and pears. Henry will eat four pears a day if I let him and it seems like the only thing Evelyn will eat lately is pizza. Ever since my husband got a pizza oven a few years ago, we have been on a homemade pizza binge at least once a week. It’s always so fun to make new creations and have the kids each “decorate” their own with inventive toppings. That pizza oven is a beast and can pump out pizzas in under 4 minutes. It’s perfect for parties, holidays and lazy Sunday dinners.

My forever favorite combination is Gorgonzola cheese, Prosciutto, and Harry & David pears. The sweetness of the pears mixed with the sharpness of the cheese and salty prosciutto come together to make my taste buds explode. I love recipes that combine sweet and savory flavors, and nothing can even compare to the taste of a Harry & David Royal Riviera pear. If you’ve never tried one, you aren’t entirely living. I just got back from visiting Harry & David in Medford, Oregon and had the best time. I’ll be sharing my amazing experience on the blog later this month. Be sure to check out an amazing giveaway at the end of this post.

Eating is seriously my favorite thing to do but I hate spending forever in the kitchen prepping, chopping, mixing, and the worst: cleaning. If I have to cook, I like to create recipes that can be prepared in under an hour tops (clean up included). Finding an excellent pre-made pizza dough can help you achieve a homemade crust without all the work of baking dough yourself. I’ve found that Publix and Trader Joe’s has the best pre-made dough and give me consistent results every time. Making this pizza is so easy and if I can do it, you can too!

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 sliced Vidalia onion
1 tube refrigerated pizza crust
1 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
1 ripe Harry & David pear, sliced
2 ounces Prosciutto di Parma, cut into 1-inch strips

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly spray a baking sheet with canola oil spray, set aside. Place your dough on the counter for 15 minutes before assembling ingredients.
2. While your dough is prepping, thinly slice one Vidalia onion and caramelize in the pan with melted butter.
3. Peel and slice the pear
4. Roll out dough into circle or rectangle shape and brush with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
5. Sprinkle pizza with Gorgonzola cheese and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and add caramelized onions and pear slices. Return to oven and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
6. To plate, top with Prosciutto di Parma strips. Serve immediately.

Let me know if you have made this pizza in the comments! I would love to see pictures! xoxo

Fall Cookies in a Jar with Immaculate Gluten-Free Sugar Cookie Mix

This post is sponsored by Immaculate Baking Co. but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

It seems like bake sales and holiday treats for family, friends, and teachers are never-ending. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love delicious baked goods during the holidays. However, did you know that they are the most gifted homemade present? That is a lot of food coming at you for months at a time. Instead of baking cookies for my kid’s teachers, I wanted to give them the ingredients to use so they could bake and eat when it was convenient for them (like 10 pm on a Tuesday night in my case).

I’ve always loved packing food into mason jars. Being able to see what’s inside and have it correctly proportioned out is a life saver. These cookie jars are perfect for year-round giving. They can be catered to any Holiday and would make adorable baby shower gifts too. I used store-bought Immaculate Baking Gluten-Free Gluten Free Sugar Cookie Mix for these mouth-watering cookie jars. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you know that most recipes I feature can be made in under 30 minutes. As much as I would love to create everything from scratch, I just don’t have the time. Immaculate Baking products help your desserts come together in no time and remove a lot of the stress, because who needs more pressure during the holidays? Their cookie mixes and premade cookie doughs are so good, and I cannot even tell that they’re Gluten-Free.

2 Tablespoons of Immaculate Baking Gluten-Free Gluten Free Sugar Cookie Mix makes one cookie, and there are 18 servings per box. I mixed in some fall colored candy, chocolate chips, and marshmallows to create a layered look. Since I used a premade cookie mix, putting these together took no time at all. There wasn’t excessive measuring or multiple ingredients to stock up on. I purchased a few boxes of the mix, a pack of mason jars and the candy add-ins. The kids love helping me prepare these for their teachers, bus driver, and friends. On the bottom of the mason jar, I taped the baking instructions, so they could easily be accessible when it came time to make. You can save $1 off any Immaculate Baking Product by clicking here!

Do you have any homemade holiday gifts you love busting out during the Fall and Winter months? If so, let me know below 🙂

5 PRACTICAL WAYS FOR TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN TO GIVE BACK

This post is sponsored by Huggies, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

There are no small acts of kindness. Every compassionate act makes large the world. – Mary Anne Radmacher

With the holiday season in full swing, now is the perfect time to start thinking about ways to help your community and those in need. We often think that only adults can volunteer and give back, but that doesn’t always have to be the case. Talk to your children about those who may be less fortunate. Educate them on ways to help others. There are plenty of acts of service that can be done by kids of all ages. It may be going through toys they don’t play with clothes they’ve grown out of or it could be purchasing food and goods to donate to a local shelter. Teach them about putting others first, and treating everyone they meet with respect. Giving will come to them a lot easier and naturally if they genuinely care about others. It can also teach them a sense of responsibility from an early age. If you don’t know where to start, here are 5 easy ways to teach your kids about giving back.

1. Baking some homemade goodies. This is definitely the most delicious way of volunteering and it won’t seem like a chore. Kids love being hands on in the kitchen and what better way to give back then including them in meal preparation for those in need. Let them assist you in making a casserole or some fun holiday cookies. My kids favorite part about baking is pressing the cookie cutters in the dough!

2. Visit a retirement home. Nothing makes us smile more like kids acting silly and being themselves. From the funny stories they tell, or how they pronounce words, kids universally have one thing in common: they’re stinking cute. Take your cute kids to a local retirement home so they can put a smile on the face of their elders. It’s absolutely free and they can bring pictures they’re drawn to brighten everyone’s day, as well as you and your children being able to listen to some inspiring retirement stories.

3. Quick acts of kindness. We all know kids have a short attention span, and mine are no different. I’ve gotten some of the best responses from my kids when I assign simple, short tasks. Remember that we want to inspire kids to give back, not have it seem forced. A simple compliment, smile or even holding the door for a stranger can make children feel accomplished, thus wanting to help more.

4. By purchasing Huggies diapers at Kroger, you can support those families struggling with diaper need. From November 8-December 2, when Kroger shoppers buy Huggies® Diapers, 1 Big Pack or 2 Jumbo Packs, they get a free pack of wipes and Huggies® will also donate a day’s worth of diapers (up to 1MM) to the National Diaper Bank Network. This is definitely one of the easiest ways to give back this holiday season. You are going to be purchasing diapers anyway, why not do your shopping at Kroger so you can help those in need?

5. Don’t forget to include pets too! My children absolutely love all animals. They jump at any chance to visit the pet store and love going to the dog park to see the dogs play. Both of our dogs are shelter rescues so they know the abundance of animals out there that need homes. Donating food, blankets, bed, bowls, and toys to your local animal shelter will help out immensely. Above all else, animals want love and affection. If your local shelter allows kids to spend some one-on-one time with all the furry friends, encourage your children to spread the love to our furry friends too.

Do you practice giving back with your children? What are some of the things you do as a family?

Battling the Breakfast Blues

This post is sponsored by Bear Naked Custom, I was paid for this post and received the included granola as compensation.

Let’s be honest, mornings as a parent are always chaotic. No matter if you’re a working mom or stay at home mom, mornings with children are never easy. If you’re trying to get out the door for preschool drop off or a morning meeting, breakfast can feel rushed. I’ll be the first to admit that I have definitely given my kids an applesauce pouch and cup of milk plenty of times just so we could make it out the door on time. It’s hard enough trying to feed and dress tiny humans, especially when they choose to have a tantrum because they don’t like the color socks you picked out. I had been trying to find something that the kids could have in the morning that they would love and be easy for me to prepare for them.

Hello Bear Naked Custom Granola! All their ingredients are Non-GMO project verified and with over 50 unique additives, there are so many amazing options to choose from when making your own granola combo. I love that fact that you can customize flavors for every member of your family. From jalapeños to sweet bacon, there is an add in for everyone. Their website is one of the most user friendly sites I’ve seen for creating custom products (in this case yummy granola) and anyone can use it. You first start with your blend of granola and choose from three delicious options: Cacao & Cashew Butter, Chocolate or Honey. Once you have your base, then the fun starts. You can add fruit, nuts and sweets & spices. The kids loved choosing yummy chocolate pieces and dried fruit. My favorite add-ins are the green tea matcha powder and the toasted organic coconut chips. After you’ve chosen all the add-ins you can customize your can with one of the Bear Naked bears or a custom photo of your family or friends (additional charges apply for that option). My kids loved choosing their own bear and helping me out with the entire process online. Once your containers come in the mail, they are all labeled with the name you chose as the blend, in my case, my kids names, and the nutrition facts and ingredients. It is such a fun activity to do with the kids and it makes them so happy to know they made their own kind of food. They also come in cute reusable cans that bring countless hours of fun, including makeshift hide and seek when you’re older brother is at school 🙂

My husband loves the bourbon flavor (contains no alcohol) of course and makes such a great gift for someone who has everything! Have you tried Bear Naked Custom Granola? If you’re new to their brand or a loyal customer, you can use code BEAR2017 for 10% off an order for a limited time. I will definitely be stocking up on some of these for Christmas gifts this year. What’s also cool about the Bear Naked custom granola is that the ingredients and add-ons are listed on the can so if you give one as a gift and the recipient loves it, they can go online and easily reorder. Happy eating, everyone!

There’s No Crying in Baseball!

It’s here! My favorite holiday is finally here. I’m so excited to share Henry and Evelyn’s costumes with you today. A few months back one of my favorite movies, A League of Their Own, was playing one night and that’s when it hit me: the kids were going to be Jimmy Dugan and Dottie Hinson. I immediately began scouring small shops for the perfect costumes before I found an amazing seamstress on Etsy who handmade both. I couldn’t be happier with the costumes and they just may be my favorite duo yet. Check out last years Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf and the previous years Firefighter & Dalmatian. Henry has also been Carl from Up and Brian Urlacher. It’s hard to believe that this is his 6th year dressing up (slow down time). What are your kids being this year? Let me know below. Happy Halloween, everyone! Be safe, eat candy until your stomach hurts and remember, There’s no crying in Baseball!

Why Probiotic Skincare?

This post has been sponsored by the PRIMP Network. All opinions are my own.

When it comes to my skin, I’ve always practiced good habits. I’m a big believer in people looking after their skin and I’ve even thought about getting involved in Modere Social Marketer to share my passion. Getting enough sleep, limited alcohol consumption, not sleeping with makeup on, and daily maintenance are just a few of the things I practice to keep my skin in good condition. Creating an anti-aging skin care plan doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Just like we take care of our gut health with probiotics, we should do the same with our daily skincare routine. LaFlore is a new skincare line with a simple 3-step system. What’s different about LaFlore is that it works with your own flora, the microbes that live on the skin and enhances the skin’s defense system to protect it from threats like environmental toxins as well as the multitude of products used on it daily.

I have also been using some great body & face skin repair cream and have had brilliant results so far so check that out if you need some skin repair cream that works.

LaFlore embraces the idea that less is more. One aspect of the La Flore cleanser that is different than others is they recommend only washing your face in the evening. This method allows for the soothing and refreshing ingredients of the Probiotic Cleanser to wash the day away and cleanse the skin for the Serum Concentrate to be applied. The Serum Concentrate works overnight to replenish good flora so you don’t want to wash it away. In the morning, splash face with warm water and apply the Probiotic Daily Defense Moisturizer, which will protect skin throughout the day. This mild cleanser is infused with clinical strength ingredients like Perilla Seed Oil, Luteolin, Terpens and Phenols for natural exfoliation that helps skin hydration, circulation and cell renewal. The Cleanser should be applied to dry skin and can be used as a cleanser or used a mask for up to one minute or used as an exfoliator with a washcloth. The Cleanser has such an airy, pleasant smell. It’s not overly powering with fragrance or unnatural chemicals. Also, read more about beverly hills md deep wrinkle filler reviews, skincare is one of the things we should be doing when we want to stay looking fresh and presentable.

Lightweight serums pack a heavy punch with a good mix of beneficial ingredients including emollients and antioxidants. The LaFlore Probiotic Serum expertly targets dark spots, hyperpigmentation and dull skin, revealing a youthful glow and brightened complexion. My skin feels so hydrated and smooth after using this serum and I love that is has a brightening effect to even skin tone. La Flore skincare is formulated for all types of skin. Whether you suffer from acne, dullness or fine lines, this probiotic 3-step skincare system will do wonders for your face. I started noticing results within a week. My skin looked healthy and renewed after just 7 days. It is much more smooth and radiant and the overall texture of my skin feels tighter.

LaFlore also features aloe, not water, as the main ingredient. Aloe has been clinically studied for its healing properties, anti-inflammatory actions and positive effects on the immune system. Aloe works to reduce low level skin irritation. All LaFlore products are plant based, organic, planet friendly and cruelty free. They DO NOT CONTAIN Soy & Gluten Parabens Sulfates, Mineral oil DEA Irritants & Bleach, Propylene Glycol/Butylene Glycol Diazolidinyl Urea Formaldehyde, Petrochemicals and Phthalate.

It’s rare that I find an entire product line that I love so much, but LaFlore has changed all that for me. If you’ve ever been curious about probiotic skincare, now is the time to start. ou can save 20% off laflore.com with code PRIMP20. I promise you will love it as much as I do!

Pumpkin Patching

The weather in Atlanta lately has been absolutely phenomenal. The crisp air and cooler temperatures are what I look forward to all year. October is definitely my favorite month for doing all the fun fall activities and today we finally went to the pumpkin patch and loaded up on pumpkins. Usually we go earlier in the month but since by husband has been traveling so much we haven’t gotten around to it. Plus, I love the fact that today was chilly which made the experience so much better. The kids loved that they could wear their matching Halloween pjs and since we got to the pumpkin patch early, they had the whole place to themselves. What is your favorite thing to do during October? Have you been to the pumpkin patch yet? I hope your weekend is filled with Fall festivals, colorful leaves and pumpkin flavored everything! xoxo
