This Halloween, Skip the Sugar, Not the Fun

Having friends over for playdates is something I have enjoyed doing since Henry was a baby. The moms group I’m apart of has the most amazing ladies and it is always so fun to get together so the kids can play and us moms can have adult conversations. One thing that is always a must on a play date is yummy snacks. They keep the kids happy for longer periods of time, which in turn keeps parents happy and stress-free. Throwing a festive playdate is so fun for the kids and since Halloween is my favorite holiday, the two go hand in hand. For this playdate I wanted to incorporate a different kind of treat. One that I know the kids would love yet wouldn’t send them spiraling out of control on sugar. Enter Dick & Jane Educational Snacks. In every bag are the perfect sized cookies for little hands. They are filled with nutritious ingredients and completely free of chemicals. I have tried these little shortbread cookies and they are amazing. I wouldn’t want to feed my kids anything that I didn’t love and these have definitely passed the test.

These days my kids have turned into constant snackers, especially Evelyn. She used to be such a great eater and now she will literally push food out of her mouth with her tongue when I try to get her to eat something. All the foods she used to love (berries, eggs, pasta, vegetables, cheese) literally make her gag now. Between 2-3 years is a common time for kids to start becoming picky with their food so as long as she’s gaining weight and staying healthy, I try not to stress over mealtime that often.

Snack time is huge around our house and my kids are mostly grazers. I definitely don’t mind giving them snacks that I know aren’t loaded down with sugar and are also low in fat. Dick & Jane Educational Snacks are also perfect for school parties and I have already planned on bringing them to Henry and Evelyn’s classrooms. I know their teachers will thank me because they don’t want to be stuck with a bunch of children on a sugar high once the party is over. Almost all schools and daycares these days have a nut-free policy. It may just be peanuts or in some cases it could be all nuts entirely. The Dick & Jane Educational Snacks are entirely nut-free and are sure to be a popular treat amongst students and teachers.

In addition to tasting so good, they aren’t called educational snacks for nothing. I love that the snacks are not only delicious but instrumental in my kids learning. Henry has been a sponge since starting Kindergarten and has really loved all the knowledge he’s gaining. Every day he comes home spelling a new word or adding numbers together. This morning when he woke up the first thing he said was “Did you know that 20 is two counts of 10?” It’s like his brain is constantly in absorption mode and he can’t get enough. The Dick & Jane snacks come with States & Capitals, Presidents, Fun & Fitness, English & Spanish and Food & Nutrition. Each cookie is stamped with adorable images and wording so that your kids not only satisfy their bellies but also their mind. Henry loves to hear what is on each cookie and try and memorize the symbols. These mouthwatering cookies really are more than just a snack.

If your kids haven’t tried these yet then they are missing out! From now until October 27th, you can save 15% on the 30-count cases with code CHANEL15. And since they’re available on Amazon that means fast shipping! I can almost guarantee you will not be disappointed in these and you will probably end up eating a few bags yourself 🙂 Let me know if you have tried them in the comments below! I would love to hear what you thought!

No-Bake Halloween Breakfast

This post is sponsored by Butterfinger but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

I am so excited that Halloween is in just 5 weeks! It is without a doubt my favorite holiday of the year and I love to stretch out the Halloween festivities as long as possible (I started decorating September 1, ha!) Some of our favorite traditions are going to the pumpkin patch, costume parades, watching family movies and eating yummy food.

As much as I would love to bake all sorts of Halloween goodies I just don’t have the time or patience. I am all about life hacks and what can be done in the quickest way possible. These Butterfinger Peanut Butter Skull Cups breakfast donuts can be used for a bake sale, at the office or even for teachers. It will also  save you time, money and most importantly, your sanity. The Butterfinger Peanut Butter Skull Cups and glazed donuts compliment each other so well with the mix of crunchy and moist flavors. Butterfinger is my husband’s favorite candy bar so of course he loved digging into these Skull Cups and nearly ate the entire bag before it was donut time.

I love creating festive memories and traditions that my kids will remember for years to come and these donuts will definitely be sticking around. Candy is so widely associated with Halloween so it seems natural to add some to a festive breakfast. Butterfinger is a classic chocolate that I always looked forward to receiving during my trick-or-treat days. Expect to see a lot of these Butterfinger Peanut Butter Skulls making an appearance in your kids treat bags.

Have you tried the new Butterfinger Peanut Butter Skull Cups? You can get them at your local Walmart and use the ibotta offer for special savings! Be sure to stock up for all the trick-or-treaters this Halloween!  Do you have a go-to Halloween recipe or dessert that you love to make? If so, let me know in the comments!

Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf

October has officially been the fastest month of the year. I cannot believe today is Halloween. We’ve done so many fun things this month and it’s so true that having kids makes the holidays that more fun.  For the Henry & Evelyn’s duo costume this year, I chose Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf. It was so much fun collecting pieces to make the costumes complete. Henry’s amazing wolf hat is from Etsy as is Evelyn’s apron but everything else was found at local stores (Target mostly). This is the costume I’ve been most excited about and I love the way it turned out. What are your kids being for Halloween this year?

Halloween Toddler Activities!

Happy Tuesday, everyone! In case you missed the memo, Halloween is in SIX days! Our house has been decked out all month long and my 4-year-old wants to wear his costumes for book week day and night. The older he gets the more he can participate in festive actives which is why he usually has a few costumes to choose from. This week there are so many fun activities planned for kids in our area and I’m sharing a few of them with you so you can have a week-long Halloween celebration too!

Kroger Moonlight Madness: Several Kroger stores in the Atlanta area will be participating in a fun Moonlight Madness event this Thursday, October 27 from 4pm-7pm. Different stores throughout Atlanta will have a costume contest for kids, trick or treat at different departments, cake walk, pumpkin carving contest, cookie decoration station, a scavenger hunt, and lots of samples. The best part? It’s totally free to attend. Since we regularly shop at Kroger and it’s down the street from us, we will definitely be taking the kids there this week. We love a reason to get out of the house during their witching hours anyway!

Pumpkin Patch/Carving: Probably the most comment activity to experience with your kids in the Fall. We love to go at the beginning of the month so we can enjoy our pumpkins for all of October. We wait until just a few days before Halloween to carve them so they don’t rot. Since Halloween falls on a Monday this year, we will be carving up ours this weekend. And when I say we, I mean my husband. The kids will be painting pumpkins 🙂

Trunk or Treat: Plenty of churches and police stations host Trunk or Treats the week leading up to Halloween. They’re typically free and it’s a great way to interact with your community. Our local PD decorates squad cards, has a bounce house, prizes and even has the fire station come with a fire truck. This year the kids costumes will be very appropriate for the police station and I’m sure Henry will enjoy telling everyone that Evelyn is a criminal.

Halloween Movie Night: There are so many new and classic kid friendly Halloween movies and I love that Freeform (formerly ABC Family) plays a different one each night up until Halloween. Some of our families favorites include: Hocus Pocus, The Adams Family, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Room on the Broom, Scared Shrekless, Mickey’s Monster Musical, and Hotel Transylvania. We always spend Halloween Eve watching festive movies and eating fun snacks, like Happy Halloween donuts from our favorite local bakery. Do you have any Halloween traditions or activities that you love doing as a family? Let me know in the comments below and happy haunting!

Halloween Books for Toddlers

It’s no secret that having kids really lets you enjoy the holidays more. I love decorating and doing as many festive things as possible with our kids during September-December. Halloween is by far my favorite holiday so I really love embracing all the fun traditions. When Henry was 16 months old I started collecting Halloween books for him to read throughout the month of October (similar to the 25 books of Christmas). It’s so fun to add more to our collection each year and now that Evelyn is old enough for books, they have really enjoyed reading them together. Unlike the Christmas books in our collection, the Halloween books are mostly short reads so they hold the kids’ attention span (even it that means I have to read each one five times in a row).
Here is my toddler approved Halloween book list!

What are some of your kids favorite books for Halloween? Let me know in the comments below!

October Favorites

October is undoubtedly my favorite month of the year, mostly because Halloween is my favorite Holiday. I decorate the last night of September so that I can enjoy the Halloween decor all month long. My house is currently decked out in all things black, white, purple, and orange. The weather in Atlanta is finally cooling off so it’s been nice being able to enjoy the outdoors again. With a new month comes new favorites, and I’m excited to share some things I’ve been loving lately.

You know how much I obsess over June & January basics. They make the most amazing pieces so that your kids can coordinate without being too matchy {see more here and here}. Their black and white pieces are perfect for October.
I really look forward to transitioning from my bright summer bag into a fall bag with a softer color. This peach hobo goes great with all the neutral colors I wear during the cooler months.
Fall baking and eating is a must in my house. Give me anything apple or pumpkin flavored and I’ll be happy. I am dying to make this donut milkshake and these pumpkin cinnamon rolls. We visited an apple farm last weekend and came back with over 40 apples. I’ve been making a ton of yummy  recipes this week. buy elavil online https://blackmenheal.org/wp-content/languages/new/noprescription/elavil-no-prescription.html no prescription
I’m loving an Earth tone lip color. I have several friends who swear by LipSense so I finally gave them a shot. They have a vast selection of colors to choose from and my favorite so far has been the Pink Champagne. It goes nicely with my skin tone without being too overpowering. Just like the brand claims, it really does last all day long. I can eat, drink, kiss my husband, etc and it doesn’t fade or rub off and it is waterproof. I love that you can create your own color pallet by combining shades. buy flomax online https://blackmenheal.org/wp-content/languages/new/noprescription/flomax-no-prescription.html no prescription
This pumpkin candle has been burning non-stop in my house. The smell is not too strong and these candles last forever. They have the best fall scents and the Halloween packaging is so cute.
I know you have all seen the adorable Cat & Jack line at Target for kids and I cannot rave enough about the pieces. The prints and patterns are so unique and fun and I love that the clothes have a 1-year warranty. This pom pom skirt is so fun and I cannot wait to style it on Evelyn. buy fluoxetine online https://blackmenheal.org/wp-content/languages/new/noprescription/fluoxetine-no-prescription.html no prescription

On Henry: tee // shorts {sold out, similar pants}
On Evelyn: bat headband // dress // socks
This weekend we are finally hitting up the pumpkin patch which we visit every year and I cannot wait to get my hands on some white and pink pumpkins. I’ve been spending way too much time on Pinterest lately and I am finally going to tackle my “Fall front porch” goal so send some Pinterest-win magic my way! Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Sibling Style: Halloween Pajamas

There is nothing cuter to me than festive holiday pajamas for my littles. Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day … I am such a sucker for the cute coordinating and matching pajamas and can never settle on just one. Find fashionable Couples Pajamas – His And Hers Matching Pajamas Couple Pjs & Onesies Set by browsing these great designs on matchinggear.com. I’m sharing my favorite sets for brothers & sisters today and busted out the kids Halloween pajamas last night. Since I’m not a huge fan of pink, I bought the skeleton set below in black for Henry and Evelyn and love how cute they look. Also, it’s almost impossible for Evie to stay still for pictures unless she has a sucker in her hand.
