16 Months

Today Henry is 16 months old and is giving me a run for my money. Not much has changed from 15 to 16 months. He still loves books (I must have read Oh So Tiny Bunny at least 400 times last month). He has quite the dominant personality and definitely has found his voice and is not afraid to use it (mostly by yelling). He’s very vocal about what he wants, likes and dislikes. He is independent, determined, active, curious, fearless and a leader. We had some friends over for dinner this weekend and they asked what his sign was. I honestly didn’t even know! I never read into signs that much but this sparked my curiosity to see if Henry has any of the traits. He was born June 28 so that makes him a Cancer (I thought he was a Gemini. whoops!) My favorite fact in researching Cancer traits was that the mascot is the Crab and they can be called crabby. Nail on the head. Henry is definitely having some crabby days lately but that could just be related to getting older and wanting to express himself more, but he just doesn’t know how. I am hoping that once he learns to communicate more things won’t be so hard for him. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, these have definitely been some trying months on us all but this too shall pass.

Five Things Friday

Can you believe Halloween is just 6 days away? Where did October go? As much I love this cold weather and the holiday season, it would be nice for time to slow down. My baby is growing up too fast and will be 16 months old on Monday. No me gusta. Anyway, since this is the last Five Things Friday post before Halloween, I thought I would share my five ten favorite Halloween ideas! Come on, could I really only pick five? And seriously, I cannot wait for Henry to ride a bike so we can do the ET Halloween costume (ok, I can wait).

It’s the last weekend of October, how are you going to celebrate?

Yay for today!

This is how I felt today:
Today I was crossing things off my list left and right. Days in the office are usually so busy that I never actually get to my core list. I am always discussing issues at hand, returning the numerous emails that come in before I can even get to my previous ones, and answering a bazillion questions about anything and everything. But today was not like that, it was so nice to cross off nearly everything on my list and even get to all the new tasks that came in. I feel like I am almost caught up and can breathe a sigh of relief. So, yay for today!

Five Things Friday

There are still 3 hours left to post Five Things Friday. My husband has been out of town since Wednesday morning so it’s just been me for three full days and I have definitely had my hands full. At least the weather in Atlanta has been amazing! Chilly mornings, breezy afternoons … simply the best. {I  have been obsessed with wearing my moccasins every day}. The leaves are starting to change and it feels like I am driving through a painting sometimes with the mix of beautiful colors. I love a good neutral earth tone, especially in Autumn, and I feel it also compliments my skin tone. Here are some of my favs I am crushing on this week. Check out more earth tones on good ol’ Pinterest here. {PS: how awesome is this boot??}

Little Boy Style

Within the past few weeks I have started referring to Henry as a toddler, since that is the age group he is falling into, and everyday he does something that reminds me that he’s not a baby anymore (enter flood of tears here). I have also come to terms that he is in big boy clothes. No longer can he fit into the cute onesies from Target that only go to size 9 months. He is a full blown man baby (if such things exist). Like a cross between Bruce Willis and the Gerber baby. One of my favorite things about this cooler weather is all the cute little boy clothes out there. I am not a fan of summer clothes for boys (or me for that matter). Maybe it’s because I have never been able to find cute shorts that I like for me or Henry. I prefer jeans, leggings, hats, cute t’s, puffy vests, high tops … basically attire that is not summer friendly. It seems like unisex leggings have exploded onto the scene. I love this idea; they are comfy, cute, soft and can be worn almost year round. I love them with an oversized tee. One thing I don’t like? All the backlash about baby/toddler boys in leggings. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard “Can’t you get that boy some real pants?” from my friends, family, and strangers. Sometimes I just want to reply “No, I can’t. Do you want to buy him some?” Even my husband used to be a leggings skeptic, however he has grown to love them because Henry looks so stinkin’ cute! Here are some of my favorite fall looks on him from the past few weeks (and yes, most include leggings!) I also can’t wait until it’s even cooler so I can bust out the Mr. Rodgers sweaters I have been hoarding for months.

Mama & Mini Fall Favorites

Friday already? Where did this week go? Work has been crazy busy lately since I have taken on more responsibility. That mixed with a full blown active toddler on my hands and you could say life has been a little hectic to say the least. That being said, I do love a challenge though and I think I thrive when I have more to do. I feel more accomplished when I get things done. When life throws more on my plate, it doesn’t necessarily mean I can’t handle it, but that I have to shift around how I have been doing things and adapt to the changes. I have been very blessed and fortunate in my life and I know this is just a new road that I am on and it will quickly become my “norm”. Okay, back to the good stuff. A few weeks ago I shared some of my mama & mini fall favorites over on my friend Joleen’s blog. I realized I had never shared this so here they are, my mama and mini fall favorites! One of the best things about having a little boy is searching for fun and unique pieces to dress him in. I thought it would be so hard to find cute boy clothes while pregnant but man was I wrong. Leggings, high tops, tee’s and raglans are some of my choice staple pieces. And although I find it way more to shop for Henry than I do for myself, that doesn’t mean I don’t love a new pair of shoes or handbag 🙂
Happy Friday and happy shopping!
