Dear Grace & Parker Bows

My love for cute bows and headbands is no secret. Evelyn practically came out of the womb with a headband on. I think that is why she doesn’t mind wearing them, she probably thinks they are just another extremity. I love finding bows that are comfortable, affordable and that coordinate with a variety of outfits. Accessorizing Evelyn’s outfits with cute headbands is one of my favorite things about having a girl.

Instagram and Etsy are my go to for finding unique headbands and accessories. A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Dear Grace and Parker, they make the cutest and most beautiful bows. The nylon headbands and clips are so well constructed and sturdy. When Evelyn throws a tantrum, she always pulls her bows and headbands off to really let me know she’s angry (ha!) and they have held up wonderfully.

Dear Grace & Parker has a vast assortment of fabric options and styles. I love this mini party hat, so perfect for New Years Eve, and once Evelyn has more hair you can be sure I’m getting these bitty glitter clips. What I love most about Dear Grace & Parker is that there is something for everyone. Whether you are shopping for a friend’s newborn or have young daughters, there is something for all ages.

I love to include little bow sets when I attend a baby shower or birthday, and these make the perfect additions. The attention to detail will not go unnoticed. Do you have a bow or headband shop that you love? Let me know in the comments!

Five Things Friday: Educational Toys {Age 4}

Henry’s favorite toys at this age are legos, transformers, and trucks. All things that his sister wants nothing to do with, besides eating the lego heads. These are also all toys which we have so many of and make constant sounds. If I step on one more transformer at 5am going down the dark stairs I just may burn them all. All kidding aside, while I love that Henry gets so much joy out of these toys, I also want him to learn how to get enjoyment out of toys that don’t come from a TV show and have flashing lights. I’ve rounded up my top 5 educational toys for you today!

Miniature Bowling Set – This is such a fantastic game for the bigger kids (3 and up). Henry can play this for 30+ minutes at a time which helps me unload the dishwasher and tidy the living room before daddy gets home! The pins and ball come in their own muslin bag and are hand carved and waxed. This set would make an awesome baby shower gift and can be used as decor until children are old enough to play with it.

Wooden Toy Camera – My children have had cameras shoved in their face since they came into this world. It’s just how I am. I photograph everything and love to document our lives. Henry has picked up my habits and pretends to take pictures of our animals, his legos, and our family. This play wooden camera can be customized with your child’s name on the back too, making it another great gift or stocking stuffer.

Fabric Letters & Numbers – This set is fantastic for preschoolers who are starting to recognize their letters and also learning to spell. All the letters and number come in a cute bag which is perfect for road trips or sleepovers at grandmas house. I love how each letter has a different pattern and that they’re soft. We are starting to teach Henry how to spell basic 3 letter words and these are a great tool.

Pawtoo Toys – This company offers an array or organic and natural wooden toys. Henry loves the Jigsaw Elephant Puzzle and the Lacing Cheese. They both help to calm and focus his mind if he is having a meltdown or hulking into a fournager. I love that these are also gender neutral so Evelyn can use down the road. Not to mention they are handmade in the USA and inspire creative play.

Wooden Peg Figures – Like most little boys, Henry is obsessed with superheroes. It’s so funny that he knows all their names even though he has never watched Iron Man or Captain America. Pegs n’ Things offers any kind of figurine you could imagine. They all get handpainted, making no two alike. Henry loves taking his Batman and Spiderman with him everywhere he goes and insists that they need to watch him use the bathroom so they too can become potty trained.
How crazy is it that there is only a week and a half left in August? Not that I am complaining because that means Fall is right around the corner. Here’s to soaking up all that summer time this weekend! Happy Friday!

Stylish Camera Bags

I am so excited to share one of the best camera bags I’ve ever come across. Shutter Totes makes stylish purses designed to hold cameras and lenses. What I love most about the collection is that they do not look like bulky camera bags that I’m used to seeing. Part of the reason I am hesitant to bring my DSLR places is because I don’t want to toss it in any old purse or my diaper bag and have it smothered in goldfish crumbs. Shutter Totes motto is “A camera carried is a camera used” and I could not agree more. In the past, I would keep my DSLR at home in fear of it getting damaged, but now I bring it everywhere.

I chose this camel colored bag because it’s neutral and matches most of my wardrobe. Let’s face it, I usually wear black most days and this purse adds a pop of color. The removable extra long strap is ideal for wearing cross body so I can have both hands free to change lenses, grab my phone or hold hands with my kids. All Shutter Totes are made of vegan leather and are extremely durable. From the zippers to the interior padded lining, there isn’t a detail overlooked. There are also two exterior pockets to store smaller items that you need easier access to. With over 100 styles to choose from, there is definitely a tote for every lifestyle.

I’ve teamed up with Shutter Totes to bring you a $50 gift certificate towards any bag in their shop! Entering is super fast and easy. See below for details. If you can’t wait for the giveaway to end, then you can use code gimme10 for 10% off your order. I am loving this blue and white stripe satchel with polka dot interior. There was only one made so I really hope someone snags it! (or maybe not so I can get it). Good Luck!

Father’s Day Gifts

Happy Friday! Father’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve pulled together some of my favorite finds for the men in your life. First up is this waxed canvas lunch tote. I love how versatile this bag is. The color is a rich brown, making it the perfect manly gift. All of these are handmade in California and the quality is superb. It’s extremely durable and can carry everything from lunch to some beers for a night of tailgating before a concert. My husband also loves to take it when he goes golfing or fishing and it’s held up wonderfully.

Car Play Mat Shirt – I’ve seen these around for a few years and I always thought they would make a great gift. Henry has so much fun driving his hot wheels along his daddy’s back and my husband enjoyed his back rub! The front of the shirt is blank and the material is super soft. There are also a few different designs to choose from so you can pick one that you think your child will like the best.

iPad & Headphone Mount – I found this while searching for unique pieces for our master bedroom redesign and knew it would look great near my husband’s side of the bed. I love the sleek, modern wooden design and simple lines. Now we just need to get him some headphones that aren’t rose gold 🙂

After Shave Salve – This is seriously my husbands new all time favorite aftershave. He loves the smell and the moisture it provides after a fresh shave. I love how it’s made from all natural ingredients and lasts forever. He hasn’t gotten any of those ugly bumps that shaving sometimes gives men and he attributes it to this salve. Another plus? It smells amazing and does the job with no harsh chemicals.

What are some of your favorite local finds? Happy weekend!

A Floral Themed Baby Shower

From the second I found out that my best friend was pregnant with her second daughter, I knew I wanted to throw her a beautiful shower to celebrate baby #2! The whole saying “April showers bring May flowers” came to mind since the shower would be in May. Once I had a theme in my head, I went to work on sourcing unique items to make the party special. Etsy was my go to, as usual, because I love supporting small shops and finding one of a kind items.
The dresser and vanity are from an antique store which I found over 6 years ago and have been hoarding ever since. I hoped one day that I’d have a daughter and use them for her big girl room. This is the first year where I have been able to add them into party decor. I love the feminine touches that paired with the theme so well. They also have not been re-finshed so they have a vintage look. That amazing blue couch was my mothers and I have used it several times this year. It makes for the prettiest back drop!
Any get together with a bunch of women should always include a mimosa bar. They are so easy to set up, inexpensive and are always the first stop guests make. All the juices I served were from Whole Foods and I reused the Mimosa Bar sign from Evelyn’s first birthday.
The food spread consisted of pasta salad, garlic shrimp, assorted cheeses & crackers, sandwiches and a vegetable platter. I made some blueberry & lime infused water and also had plenty of non alcoholic drink options for the pregnant ladies who attended. I used vintage napkins that were my grandmothers to wrap silverware in. This was my first time using cloth napkins for a party and now I’m hooked. (If you need me I’ll be scouring Ebay for napkin lots).
Adding personalized touches to any party or event is key to make a wonderful lasting impression. The favors for all the ladies attending were mini Pinot Grigio wines with custom labels that had the mother’s name to be and the date of the shower. If you are looking for an easy way to incorporate the guest of honor, these are perfect. I also used Gardenia Labels for a friends 30th birthday party last month.
Stay tuned for a special giveaway on Friday for your chance to win all the items, plus some, in her amazing gift basket! If you are expecting a little girl soon, then I have all your floral themed needs covered 🙂

Patriotic Sibling Style

Happy Monday, friends! I hope all you ladies had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend, which started off the summer holiday season. In just a few short weeks, pools will be opening and family beach trips will be taking place. Hello Ellie Shop has some amazing red, white & blue outfits for your kiddos to wear this Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. I absolutely love her fun patterns and cotton blends. The clothes are a very lightweight cotton and so soft. Also, each piece is under $20! If you’re having a baby boy, I would pair this adorable Americana onesie with the harem shorts. Whether you have boys, girls or one of each, there is definitely something for all! Besides, the holidays just aren’t complete without dressing your kids in coordinating attire 🙂

Look at this little ham of mine. He loves being silly lately when I take his picture. All I have to say is “Henry, DON’T smile” and he starts giggling and smiling like crazy. Now if I could only get his little sister to do the same. I forget that around the 16th month age my kids stop smiling and it lasts until about two. Great.

Henry’s tank is from Gap last year and I am pretty stoked that it still fits him. I usually buy a full size bigger than his current age and shirts and tanks last him well over a year. He is still 3 years old but has been wearing a 4t since his last birthday. You know my love for knee high baby socks so I had to pair some with this skirt. They definitely add a girly touch when your daughter is wearing Converse to match her brother!
