Five Things Friday

I’m not going to lie, Henry looks so stinking cute in a bathing suit. I love his little chubby belly sticking out over the top like an old man. He has always been my water baby; loving bath time, the pool, splash parks, the dogs water bowls … you get the idea. Little swim trunks are so adorable this season for the boys and I’ve already purchased a few for Henry (meaning, 3 out of 5 of my picks below). These swim trunks have all been under $20 and Carters just had a 50% off sale last Saturday and I snagged him the black stripped shorts for $7! Plus, they always have coupons too which is great. Hopefully this summer will not be so brutally hot here in Atlanta, but just in case it is, Henry will be prepared.

Weekend Wrap Up

These posts should really be called “What Henry did this weekend” since our life revolves around him (obviously). But honestly, we would’t have it any other way. We love the weekends because we get to spend quality family time together, see our friends, work on house projects, go to the park, veg out, etc.
Friday was a low key night spent relaxing in the hammock and playing outside. The weather was crisp and cool, but not too cold. We received this hammock as an engagement gift back in 2011 and it has been in our backyard for years but we hardly make the time to use it. My husband was the one who suggested it and lying there was so peaceful, swaying back and forth. We definitely need to utilize it more before the mosquitos and humidity come.

Saturday was such a beautiful day and we started it off by going for a walk on the greenway. It was our first time walking it and we immediately fell in love. The city of Alpharetta did an amazing job building and keeping it clean.

After lunchtime and naps we headed to Home Depot to get some flowers for our desk. Henry loved looking at all the pretty colored plants and kept trying to grab them all. So typical. He finally was able to bust out his shorts this weekend and I love seeing his chubby pale legs sticking out!

Saturday night we had some friends and their 11 month old son over. My husband grilled out, we hung out outside and had some great company. Sunday was our month pizza night with some other friends of ours and Henry’s BFF. He and Roman are only 5 days apart and I can tell they’re going to be best buds. The pizza was amazing (it gets better every time!) and afterwards we went for ice cream at Brusters. I’m not sure what is wrong with my son but he didn’t even touch his ice cream cone. He just wanted to hold it and have it melt all over him. We have been so lucky to get to know these friends of ours and we really treasure them. I swear, going to Gymboree was one of the best decisions of my life, for Henry’s sake and mine!

I hope everyone has a great week! I am looking forward to this upcoming weekend. Some girlfriends and I are celebrating my 30th birthday with a girls dinner and then Sunday the hubby and I are having (toddler free) brunch at Two Urban Licks. It’s going to be great! xo

Henry’s Food Adventures

This past weekend Henry got spoiled and ate a lot of yummy food. We wen’t to Moe’s where he love dipping his chips in sour cream and licking it off (gross) and had more black beans then I have ever seen him ingest (yay for protein!) We also had dinner with friends at Lee’s Bakery, a Vietnamese restaurant which was incredible. If you’re in the Atlanta area, I highly recommend trying this place out. The Vegetable Banh Mi was out of this world and we even got some sandwiches to go to eat for lunch on Sunday.  The prices are so cheap and I could definitely eat there everyday and not get sick of it. We also got the Avocado Smooth, Pork Banh Mi and Vegan Soup. My husband and I have been talking about it this whole week and making plans for when we go back. On Sunday morning we did some grocery shopping at Whole Foods and got Henry his own Green Lemonade this time. He devoured the whole thing, hardly taking any breaks and had threw a massive tantrum when it was all gone. I think juicing is in my future. Henry has been pretty picky lately about his food so I have been giving smoothies a try in hopes he will get his nutrients. So far they have all wound up in his stomach and not all over my kitchen floors.

Happy eating, friends!

2nd Annual St. Patricks Day Party

This past weekend I hosted our mom’s group 2nd Annual St. Patricks Day Party. It amazes me how this group keeps growing and I love meeting new mom’s and their kids. Last year our mommy group consisted of maybe 8 members and it has grown to over 20. Last year was my first year hosting a big play date and this year I was so excited to do it again. I loved seeing all the toddlers in their green cute outfits. My husband built a photo back drop that I decorated and I can also use it again in the future for just about anything. All the mommies made yummy green/shamrock finger foods and desserts and my friend Catherine of Sinless Margarita brought some of her amazing margarita mix since some adult drinks were definitely in order with 16 kiddos running around. Everyone had such a great time I am looking forward to spring/summer with more holiday themed play dates and birthday parties 🙂

9/52

I just realized I forgot to show the week 9 portrait. Maybe it’s because March has snuck up on me. I always forgot how short February is.
“a portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2014.”
Henry: He is obsessed with taking off and putting back on his shoes. At least once a week I get a note from daycare saying something like “Henry didn’t want to play the drums, he would rather take his shoes off.”
