Making Mealtime Easier

To say that Evelyn is obsessed with Mickey Mouse would be an understatement. She could literally watch the show for hours at a time and it’s the only one that really captivates her attention. “Me-Mow” comes out of her mouth probably 100 times a day. I think if we ever took her to Disney World she may have a heart attack. When The First Years approached me about sending the Mickey Mouse Helping Hands Feeding & Activity Seat for Evelyn to try I was super excited because I knew she would love it. Mealtime can be a challenge once toddlers turn into picky eaters so anything that can help make my life easier I am all for. Since we finally purchased some new chairs for our kitchen table, Evelyn can easily climb up into her seat. Some days I will find her just sitting there waiting for food without me even asking and I’m quickly reminded how much I love her little personality. She is so enthralled by all the Mickey and Minnie items that surround her that I can get her to ear just about anything. June & January Sibling Style {pt. 2}

With Fall just around the corner (fingers crossed) that means I’m already dreaming about Halloween and all things black and white. I know I’m not the only parent who starts planning their children’s costumes in August, right? RIGHT? As mentioned last week in my sibling style post, June & January has the best coordinating pieces for siblings. I’ve always loved black and white pieces since they can be worn with pretty much any color. When I saw the “Get Me A Taco” shirt on Instagram, I had to have it for Henry. It’s no secret that this boy loves Mexican food. The swing dress that Evelyn has on can easily transition into fall by being paired with a cardigan and tights. This 2T is a tad long on her now but that just means she can grow into it and wear it longer. Five Things Friday: Educational Toys {Age 4}

Henry’s favorite toys at this age are legos, transformers, and trucks. All things that his sister wants nothing to do with, besides eating the lego heads. These are also all toys which we have so many of and make constant sounds. If I step on one more transformer at 5am going down the dark stairs I just may burn them all. All kidding aside, while I love that Henry gets so much joy out of these toys, I also want him to learn how to get enjoyment out of toys that don’t come from a TV show and have flashing lights. I’ve rounded up my top 5 educational toys for you today!Miniature Bowling Set – This is such a fantastic game for the bigger kids (3 and up). Henry can play this for 30+ minutes at a time which helps me unload the dishwasher and tidy the living room before daddy gets home! The pins and ball come in their own muslin bag and are hand carved and waxed. This set would make an awesome baby shower gift and can be used as decor until children are old enough to play with it.

Wooden Toy Camera – My children have had cameras shoved in their face since they came into this world. It’s just how I am. I photograph everything and love to document our lives. Henry has picked up my habits and pretends to take pictures of our animals, his legos, and our family. This play wooden camera can be customized with your child’s name on the back too, making it another great gift or stocking stuffer.

Fabric Letters & Numbers – This set is fantastic for preschoolers who are starting to recognize their letters and also learning to spell. All the letters and number come in a cute bag which is perfect for road trips or sleepovers at grandmas house. I love how each letter has a different pattern and that they’re soft. We are starting to teach Henry how to spell basic 3 letter words and these are a great tool.

Pawtoo Toys – This company offers an array or organic and natural wooden toys. Henry loves the Jigsaw Elephant Puzzle and the Lacing Cheese. They both help to calm and focus his mind if he is having a meltdown or hulking into a fournager. I love that these are also gender neutral so Evelyn can use down the road. June & January Sibling Style {pt 1}

Now that school is back in session for most I wanted to share some of my favorite staple pieces for boys and girls. June & January (formerly Little Hip Squeaks) has the best basics for babies and children. Their pieces are soft, comfortable and extremely stylish. I love all the patterns and bright colors and they are perfect for the playground and school. The lightweight cotton allows kids to move freely while remaining relaxed. What is also great about the majority of their items is that they are gender neutral, so you can save for babies you haven’t had yet 🙂 Having a son and a daughter, it can be difficult to find coordinating pieces for them, which I why June & January is my go to for staple pieces. The swing dress and lounge short are definitely my favorite right now and they pair so well together. My Favorite Sippy Cups

It’s safe to say that I’ve been around the sippy cup block. Henry started using them at 6 months old and he’s now over 4. So, for the past 3+ years, my dishwasher has seen their fair share of different cups. It’s seen boy cups and girl cups, glass cups and non-BPA free cups, Paw Patrol cups and now Minnie Mouse cups. My kids have tried them all and I’m sharing my top five favorites today.

4 // Nalgene – I have personally used this brand for years and I love that they have smaller ones for toddler’s hands. They are just as wonderful as the adult version and come in an array of colors.
