2021 is definitely the year that I embrace all the male characters. For my 4th (but not final) male character I went with the iconic Ace Ventura Pet Detective. I recently watched this movie and it still holds up as hilarious nearly 30 years later. It’s hard to find good “bag costumes” but I was pretty impressed with this one. I love this costume because it came with everything, including the wig (no boots but any black combat style will work. Be sure to check out Goodwill if you don’t own any).

Few images and people are as iconic as Marilyn Monroe in her white dress. I knew  I worked with California Costumes last year and I was so excited to team up with them again. My Marilyn dress and wig are both from California Costumes which I have linked below. The Simpsons is considered not only one of the best cartoons ever but is also the longest-running American sitcom ever. Marge Simpson is such a iconic character that literally people of all ages know, even if they don’t watch the show. Since I had to transform into a yellow cartoon, I enlisted my makeup artist extraordinaire, Britney, to create this look. I didn’t know how this character would translate into real life but she nailed the makeup and I was so happy with the costume pieces, which by the way are all from Amazon. Shocker. The Dark Knight is one of the best Batman/Joker films ever. Due largely in part to Heath Ledger’s incredible performance. I knew last year I wanted to add the Joker to the lineup this year. The costume is incredibly functional and comfortable. All items are from Amazon and the makeup is best sloppy and messy so literally anyone can recreate this look.

Raise your hand if Coraline still kind of freaks you out? When I first saw this film I thought it was going to be a fun family movie but I was very wrong. Random fact but so many people attribute this movie to Tim Burton because of its creepiness but it’s not a Burton film at all.  Even if you haven’t seen Coraline most people know the character and this is an easy one to recreate. I love public figures who go through an iconic phase where they become recognizable to everyone. It makes costume picking very easy for my 31 days! This Sia costume cost me less than $40 and is so easy to create. The wig and bow are the officially licensed headpiece, I found my blazer at Goodwill for under $5, used red lipstick I already had and wore my black Spanx Moto Leggings (you can wear any black leggings or opaque tights depending on how long your blazer is). I plan on wearing this on actual Halloween and Evelyn is going to be Maddie with the blond wig and nude leotard 🙂
