What I Wore in NYC

My whole dressing motto for the year has been “shopping my closet.” I spent way too much last year on clothes and this year I was determined to mix and match pieces I already owned and also only buy pieces that can be worn year round with different items. I love obtainable pieces that don’t break the bank and the majority of items I wore in New York were under $50. If you just enjoyed reading on shortandsweetnyc.com, you’ll find they’ve suggested the best places to buy great clothes around New York. The added bonus is that a lot came from my own closet and were not special purchases just for this trip. For example, the green lace dress which I wore at Cha Cha Matcha was worn on Evelyn’s 4th Birthday, my leopard kitten heels from Sole Society have literally been attached to my feet since I got them back in November and my black moto jacket is 3 years old.

You’ll also notice that I was able to incorporate the same accessories and shoes into several looks throughout the trip. Putting looks together is one of my favorite things to do before a trip and to save time and maximize luggage space, I photographed everything I was going to wear before I packed. The amount of stress this prevented was huge and really made dressing each day easy (especially when you change 14 times in the back of a suburban!)

  2. Ok, I don’t have a favorite bc I basically added at least one piece from each outfit to my online shopping cart/wishlist. The Plaza hotel look is just so freaking chic though, that would have to be my fave if I’m forced to choose. @kristen_lawler

  3. First I want to say, I follow you on IG and I love your stories! They’re always so entertaining and I heard you mention a while back about recycling your closet clothes and making new outfits out of them. It inspired me to also do it, because I spent WAY too much on new clothes! ❤️
Second, I was LIVING for your library & hotel look! So fun and gave me all the vintage vibes!
