Valentine’s Party Recap

This past week I hosted our small playgroup for Valentine’s Day. It was so much fun making the food and setting up the dessert table & photo booth for the kids. Needless to say all the sweets were the first to go and there were about 10 three year olds on one hell of a sugar high. I always say to people, “when in doubt, dip it in chocolate and add sprinkles” which is primarily what I focused on. The oreos, pretzel rods and wafers were store bought and then dipped in melted chocolate and topped with sprinkles. Depending on how many you make it can be very time consuming however it results in a festive holiday treat. I love that you can customize the chocolate and sprinkles for whatever holiday season. This was my first time making rice krispy treats and I don’t know why I always felt so intimated by home made ones (there are only three ingredients by the way).
After they set up I cut them out with a heart shaped cookie cutter and, you guessed it, drizzled chocolate and sprinkles on top. There couldn’t be all these yummy sweets without something for the kids to wash them down with so I went with whole milk in miniature milk bottles with a sprinkle rim and donut on top (by far my favorite on the dessert table). This was such an easy and fun party to host and my love for hearts, red and pink made it that more enjoyable. The kids loved the photo props and by the end of the party the big red heart balloon was being used as a huge medicine ball by all the boys. I would say this party was a success, even with a sugar coma that lasted two days 🙂
Happy almost Valentine’s Day, friends!

Week Recap

Last Saturday night I had some girlfriends over for a “Favorite Things” party. I read about it on one of my favorite blogs, Lesley W. Graham. The idea goes like this: each of the seven girls brings 6 of the same item, all under $6 (with the total being no more than $36, give or take) and then each girl gets 6 new things to take home! It was so fun seeing what everyone picked. Some of the girls wrapped their items and I think that made it more fun (like Christmas!) If we do it again, I’ll definitely be wrapping mine. My loot included a red velvet candle, cloth napkins, hand soap, a bracelet, face wipes, shower scrub gloves and Charlotte’s Web. The favorite item I chose was the Wet Brush mini. I have the full size and it’s amazing on wet or dry hair. I love mini anything because they’re perfect to keep in your purse at all time. Or a hospital bag since nearly everyone I know is pregnant.

Sunday was my friend Ashley’s sprinkle shower for her baby girl. I forgot how much fun baby showers are and it’s even more fun to go to them being pregnant with a bunch of pregnant friends. We played a cute “match the baby socks” game, had yummy food and watched her open all her sweet gifts. I can’t believe her baby will be here in less than 8 weeks!

Later that night at home, we had the best one pot pasta that I saw on Pinterest. It was our first time cooking a pasta dish (including the noodles) in one pot. It was enough to feed the 3 of us for dinner and for leftovers the next day. The sauce is very light and does not weigh the dish down. And all the ingredients were under $10. I highly recommend this as a quick go to dish if you’re short on time.
Monday night my husband and I went to the Braves game with some friends. It had rained all day and was miserable but as soon as we got to the stadium, the rain stopped and the cloud coverage helped keep everything cool. My mom’s husband has season tickets in the front row at the third base line and once a season he lets us use the tickets and see a game. It’s such a great view and very cool to see the players so close. We stayed until the bottom of the 9th but the game was tied and we had a long drive back to the suburbs. Unfortunately they lost but we had a great time with our friends on a date night! Who knows when we will get another one of these since both of us are pregnant.

Here is onto another weekend, but with zero plans. We are going to (finally) work on Henry’s big boy room!

Mother’s Day/Last Week Follow Up

This past week has been very eventful … play dates, lunch dates, having family come to visit, a graduation party and of course (my very first) Mother’s Day. This weekend was very special and the hubby made sure to make me feel appreciated. Delicious homemade breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning, flowers both days and cards. The hubby made an amazing banana’s foster french toast from this recipe and I was blown away. My favorite thing though? Not having to change diapers on Sunday (it’s the little things). I am very grateful that my little family chose me as their mama/wife. How lucky I am to call them mine! Mother’s Day was also Henry’s first time in a pool and he loved it. He loves bath time and is fascinated by water. He could have stayed in that pool all day (it was heated too).  Here is a little recap of our past week, enjoy!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was absolutely beautiful here in Atlanta. High’s in the mid 60’s, no pollen, cool breezes … simply perfect for outdoor activities. Saturday was the big Atlanta Zoo trip that some mommy friends and I had been planning. The majority of the dads had not met one another so it was nice for them to meet and get to know everyone. Afterwards we all went to lunch at Six Feet Under and sat upstairs on the outside patio overlooking the city. All the babies were such troopers and well behaved! Some were even able to take their naps at the zoo or lunch. It was so fun getting everyone together and I am already looking forward to our group cookout in May!
Sunday was filled with errands, cleaning, relaxation, margaritas and lunch at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. We spent some time in the back yard (which was freshly mowed by the hubby) and also put up a new bird feeder. Henry even enjoyed his morning bottle beneath the azaleas. I’m sad this weekend had to come to an end and I am already counting the days until next weekend. We have our yearly garage cleanup where we check our garage and garage door for repairs and buy from Midwest Garage Builders our tools and avail services that we need.
I hope everyone got to get outside and enjoy their time together!
