We have been getting so much rain in Atlanta that at the first inkling of sunshine, we head for the outdoors. My kids and husband love to be outside and I’m slowly coming around to the idea, haha! We have a huge backyard that is perfect for playing, relaxing, and entertaining. My husband and I have been trying to encourage more of a healthy lifestyle and also lead by example. so that means being active, lots of playtimes, and healthier food choices. Picnics are one of our families favorites activities to do in the evenings. Taking dinner outdoors is such a good change of scenery and lets the kids get a lot of energy out before bedtime.
Planning and packing ahead for a picnic is key when you have little mouths to feed. No one likes a hangry toddler and so to prevent that from happening, having ready-to-eat finger foods is a must. Chopped veggies, fruit and cheese cubes are my go-to for healthy snacks. I love to throw together some simple sandwiches because they’re perfect for picnics: They don’t need to be hot or too cold and can be enjoyed as kids come and go. They also don’t require a ton of cleanup and aren’t messy to eat. I bring juice boxes or milk boxes for the kids and a bottle of wine for myself and husband because by 5 pm it’s much needed!
I’m all about quick meals and foods so anything that can be made fast or put together quickly will always beat out those that take hours to prepare. Not only are the NEW Taylor Farms Crafted Kits convenient and easy to assemble but they are also super fresh and delicious. I love to eat them for lunch or split up for the perfect side salad for dinner. They’re so easy to take on the go for a picnic because all the ingredients are in different compartments so they won’t mix until you’re ready to eat. I love their Italiano House Salad, which comes with kidney beans and chickpeas for a flavorful protein punch and is very substantial in size. Taylor Farms has a wide variety of salad kits that can be used alone or with different meats or fish for a yummy dinner. The great thing about each salad kit is that the lettuce and ingredients have already been washed so they’re ready to eat! Talk about a major time saver for busy moms. Sorry lettuce heads and vegetables, but I don’t have time to wash and cut you for an hour while my kids are in their witching hour. Taylor Farms Crafted Kits are perfect if you love to cook but don’t have a ton of time in your day to dedicate to it. You can be creative and create fun meals using their prepared salads. Head over to their website to see all their yummy recipes that take no time at all! To complete our picnic, I bought some store made cookies because again, I don’t have time to bake and the kids don’t know the difference anyway.
