A 30th Birthday Celebration

This past weekend some girlfriends and I got together to celebrate our sweet friend Jessica turning 30. I love any reason to party and get together with friends and I believe that everyone should feel special on their birthday. Planning parties and putting together goody bags is a ton of fun for me. Also, why is it that kids parties should only get goody bags? I think every party should have them. It was a nice change to make a few for adults and not children. Since everyone that came is a mom, buy nexium online https://salempregnancy.org/wp-content/languages/new/nexium.html no prescription
I tried to compile items that I knew moms would like: champagne (duh), lip balm (you can never have too many), soaking salts (for those stressful days) and a cute hand painted wooden beaded keychain  The gold lined baskets, straws and tissue paper were from Target, of course. I was able to try the soaking salts last night and it felt like I was in a spa. I was so relaxed! These would make a great gift for Mother’s Day.
No party is complete without dessert. Lots of dessert. The cake and cupcakes were from Publix, my go to for any event, and the beer mug and cake toppers are from Etsy. Getting a basic cake and/or cupcakes and accessorizing with cute toppers or fresh flowers is a great way to add a personalized touch and save a ton of money.
There is a great outdoor development in North Atlanta called The Avalon which is my go to spot. Plenty of shopping, dining, pampering and you can drink anywhere. Basically a mecca for a moms night out. Cru Wine Bar was our first stop for some prosecco on the patio followed by dinner at The El Felix, which is by far my favorite Tex-Mex spot in Atlanta (review coming soon!) Even though restaurants at the Avalon do not take reservations, the staff at The El Felix were so accommodating and helpful. I was able to drop off the desserts, balloons and goody bags ahead of time and request their best table. Our waitstaff were so attentive and our drinks and chips were never left empty. Thanksgiving Weekend Recap

Thanksgiving break really starts the holiday season for us. We love having 4 full days together with no firm plans and having time to soak in being a family. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without watching the Macy’s parade and Henry loved seeing all the huge balloons. We had my family over for an early dinner and it was so nice to all be together. My brother came home from Boston and spent most of the day snap chatting my baby to female friends. buy avapro online https://salempregnancy.org/wp-content/languages/new/avapro.html avapro no prescription

Black Friday started a little slow since everyone was still in a turkey coma. I made some yummy cinnamon butter while Christmas music played and we did some more decorating. After morning naps we decided that the crowds had probably dwindled so we headed out for some shopping. My husband scored a new TV which we are both obsessed with. It has the built in Roku so we have been streaming everything through Amazon, Netflix and HBO and are seriously thinking of ditching our cable. We also hit up Target for some stocking stuffers for the kids which was a horrible idea since Henry took every toy off the shelf screaming “Santa needs to get this for ME!” buy dilantin online https://salempregnancy.org/wp-content/languages/new/dilantin.html dilantin no prescription

After Evelyn went to bed Henry and I made Christmas cookies. With December nearly here and Henry being at the age where he can really enjoy the holidays, we’ve decided to try and do something festive every night. What a better way than to start with baking. He is obsessed with “cooking classes” as he and my mom call them. He loves to help anyway he can in the kitchen, mostly by taste testing after every step. buy sinequan online https://salempregnancy.org/wp-content/languages/new/sinequan.html sinequan no prescription

On Saturday we spent some time with my dad who just moved back to Atlanta and my brother who was still in town from college. We ended the night with dinner at Fellini’s for the best pizza. Evelyn had her first pizza experience and loved the crust.

Sunday we had our 3rd annual Christmas breakfast with some friends (this year with 4 kids!) We made bourbon bacon, fried donuts and ham, egg & cheese muffins. With a side of mimosas of course. The weather was unusually warm so the boys were able to play in the back yard like wild men and got a ton of energy out. After our breakfast sugar coma we all napped hard and I was quickly longing for days pre-kids so I could stay in bed all day.

We ended our amazing break with festive popcorn and Elf on the TV. The popcorn was thrown together in under 10 minutes and super easy (and delicious). Mix together popcorn, m&m’s and marshmallows. Melt red candy melts in microwave or double broiler. Drizzle on the popcorn mixture, stirring with a spatula and add sprinkles. The best thing about this is you can swap out and add anything. Next time we will try some pretzels and butter finger bites (my husbands request) and perhaps some white melted chocolate. Toddler hands and colored chocolate are not the best combo.
Here’s to another memorable Thanksgiving break in the books!

FOOD TRUCKS!

Saturday night we got a babysitter and headed down to the Atlanta Food Truck Park with some friends. I had no idea it existed until a girlfriend told me about it. The fact that it is BYOB is pretty spectacular. I hate paying top dollar for alcohol in restaurants. Not that I don’t though. Anyway, it was our first time going and all the different food was so incredible. I tried food from 6 different trucks and had no complaints. We got there a few hours before closing time so some of the popular trucks had run out of food which was a bummer because I had my eyes set on the deep fried waffle. It’s probably best for my waist line that I refrained. Nothing beats a fun night out with some other parents and close to no baby talk! However, next time I would like to bring Henry 🙂 If you live in the Atlanta area you must check this place out.

29th Birthday Recap

On April 3 I turned 29. Twenty Nine. Sigh.
(this cake is from Henri’s Bakery in Atlanta. My mom has gotten every cake of mine there since I was one!) She’d even got Promotion Choice’s custom coasters with my favourite images and phrases on.
The birthday celebration actually started Easter Sunday since we had both sides of family in town. My mother, father, and step dad bought me a MacBook Pro which I have been wanting for years! Such an amazing, thoughtful gift. Baby Henry wanted to help Mama blow out her candles, but I really think he just wanted that frosting!
Breaking in the MacBook in bed while the baby sleeps. Ahhh, so nice <3
(side note, this tv/laptop tray is from Ikea! It was only $7.99 and such a great investment)
Tuesday night my mother in law cooked an amazing pre birthday dinner of Shrimp & Scallop St. Jacque with gouda cheese. Scallops are my absolute favorite seafood and I could eat them daily … too bad they are so pricey. The dish was incredible and I will have to get the recipe and share it.
Unfortunately Tuesday night I started feeling sick. My throat was on fire and my body was aching all over. I decided to go to bed early and rest up for Wednesday. That didn’t help. Early Wednesday morning, on my actual birthday of course, I woke up feeling miserable, like I had strep throat. I was wincing every time I swallowed, my body ached so bad I could hardly move, and my head felt as heavy as a bowling ball. I tried to psyche myself out, get ready, and go into work. We had a big day planned … birthday lunch with friends and front row Braves tickets. I was going to try and make it no matter what.
All of my co-workers were so sweet. They decorated my office, bought me coffee, flowers, , presents, and a cake. I am lucky to work with some amazing people <3.
The birthday lunch was cancelled and Jan and I opted for some soup to try and help my throat. After work we headed to the Braves game with my mom and step dad. He has season tickets, row 1 right by the dug out. Jan was beside himself with excitement so I had to tough it out even though it started to pour.
This is my favorite memory from my 29th birthday. My husband, in the rain, happy as can be. I am so blessed. On Thursday I went to the doctor and got a miracle shot and some antibiotics. I started feeling better within hours. Ready for my girls night celebration at Noche Friday night!
(with my best friend of 16 years, Shayda)
(with the beautiful mama to be, Catherine, who stopped by even though she had to catch an early flight the next morning)
Group Shot! So thankful to have such amazing friends! Despite being sick for a few days this was a great birthday week 🙂
